I was wanting to get all white headlights on my 03, but I saw some for a 06 but what is the 3rd bulb for on the 06 headlights, and would they fit?

The tearduct light is the drl. I dont know about plugs, but they should 'fit' as long as you get AC lights for an AC truck, and DC lights for a DC truck. Pretty sure someone here has swapped '05-'06 lights onto an earlier truck.

3rs bulb down in the corner is "DTRL". I don't think they'll fit. I do know same year AC headlamps don't fit an '06 DC. I'd go with lights for your actual year and body style.

Doesn't cover year interchange, DRLs, or some other things but there is some lighting and different-cab-types-parts-interchange info over here that may be helpful.

What even is the “dtrl” light for, like is it essential because I mean as long as I have my blinkers, dims and brights I’m chilling

Daytime running light. The importance of it existing is more about the wiring/circuitry than the operational function.
