Windshield Wipers Experiences?

My OEM (NOT Sightlines) blades lasted 3 years, then installed the highest cost Michelin blades ($30 total) and they were streaky. Went back to OEM blades, which were $60 for the set—ouch.

Any other quality blades out there?

 

I literally just replaced my 2018 factory blades at 73000, and they worked fine until the bitter end, when the driver side developed a crack that left a streak on the glass. I’m in Oregon, so the wipers have to be bulletproof.

I followed Project Farm and got one of the upper lines of Bosch. They look like factory and work really well. We’ve had tons of rain and a punishing ice storm this year and those wipers worked great.

I'm sticking with oems, this is their 3rd winter and they may last a 4th if this summer isn't too brutal to them

 

OEM is what I have. Just have replace them now after 60k miles. The driver side has a small break on the rubber.

 

Mine almost made it to 3 years. Now they need replaced. Following.

OEM (NOT Sightlines). Mine original set went 4.75 years and 70,000 miles at which time the passenger side got a small tear that produced a streak that Mrs McGov. didn't like. Otherwise I might still be using them at 6 years.

 

PIAA are the only ones that last me several years at a time.

 

Where I live you get a year, maybe two, from wipers. Oem or not. I prefer the Bosch blades.

 

I have heard good things about RainX silicone wipers, but I just go for the OEM blades online, $20 or so each.

 

I didn't like the way the aftermarket blades attached to the Tundra arms. It raised the arms up 1/2" higher and didn't look good. I went back to factory blades. They were only $30 but that was last year. Maybe their double the price now like everything else.

What year is your Tundra? The dealer told me, I cannot replace the blade inserts on my truck and when they showed me the on computer diagram, it confirmed the entire blade/wiper needs to be replaced. My truck is a 2019 TRD Sport 4x4.

 

They don't last long here in AZ desert. I also stick with the OEM wiper, they are the best in my opinion.

 

Crap, sorry, I was mistaken, the inserts were for my Rav4. No inserts for our trucks, the OEM blades are $20 or so online.

I can confirm this too. It's unfortunate but oems were like 27 bucks each and they last at least 3 years. Rather have oem than pay more for aftermarket.

I tested a few different blades because Im picky and hate streaks and noise. I ended with the rainx silicone endura blades, they're a little pricey but I think I have at least 2 years on mine right now and they are still quiet and streak free.

 

Sounds like Bosch Icon, RainX and OEM are the top picks.

 

OEM blades, wipe the blades with 303 about 3-4 times a year. Helps them from drying out and getting hard.

 

I just bought a set of the Truck Onyx blades. Seem to work great new. Also bought a 2 year warranty from Advanced Auto for $6 a blade. If they streak, start skipping, or break for any reason in two years they’ll replace them.

I’ve never gotten more than a couple years from any wiper I’ve tried.

 

I always use Rain-X’s top tier blades on all my cars and they work good.

 

Bought the Rain-X's last night. Time will tell how long they last.

 

OEM all the way. This is true with most any toyota stuff- their factory parts, even the consumables, are almost always excellent.

Shop around. Dealers are all over the place with what they charge on parts. I paid just under $40 for the pair of wipers two months ago. Dealer closest to home wanted $65 or so for the same.

 

It’s pouring rain today in California and it is quickly evident how well Toyota designed the OEM wipers for the Tundra. Whisper quiet and there is nearly no streaking. My original set lasted 3 years, so we know they’re durable.

Good experience for us all and I’m going only use OEM wipers from here on. Will shop around for a better price in 3 years.

 

OEM is the best for our trucks AFAIK

 

I actually did an extensive study on this. For several years, I ran two different brands of wipers, one on each side. Whichever wiper wore out first, I put it on a "NO" list. Then replaced both wipers using the winning brand from the first set, and another wiper to compete with.

If that makes sense?

Anyway ... after several years and a couple hundred thousand miles in the Florida sun, I settled on RainEx.

The REAL OEM's last, the Sightlines are garbage but are what the dealer will replace your OEM's with under warranty. Been there, done that. If you can't get the REAL OEM's get them off Ebay but avoid the Chinese versions! 303 helps but do not last.
