Every 10k miles? Seems high? I do mine every 5, and drive around 15-18k a year.

Also, I'm picking up my tundra 5 hours outside of my city. Would the Care Plan work at any Toyota dealer, or only the one I buy from?

    1. I think dealer follows Tundra manual which is recommended oil changes every 10k miles. I personally will do it every 5k miles. Which means that I'll probably have to pay dealer additional amount to do oil change in between the covered oil changes...

Maintenance covers checkup and tire rotations every 5k, but oil changes every 10k

    2. Yes, warranty and maintenance care plan covers can be used in any US Toyota dealership.

    3. Contact Jerry asap to get a quote for your new truck, and ask dealer to match it. Most likely your dealer won't match it as it's very low. So just buy it from Jerry... I just bought mine few days ago 10 years 120k miles, and maintenance 5y/70k miles

Here's Tundra maintenance guide, see the schedule so you know what's covered:

Thanks, I was able to get that 3 yr/36k warranty magically turned into a Toyota 10yr/100k $0 deductible platinum one for $1800. Funny how the games get played in them finance offices.

They really really lied to you. The 3/36k warranty already comes with your truck included as standard warranty, and they had the guts to charge you for it??

I would cancel the warranty with this dealer just for this exact reason - one thing they try to overcharge you, but here they sold you nothing and charge you for it. I'm sure Jerry will give you a better price for this 10/100k warranty anyway, and it would be a good way to stick it to this shady finance guy

So did I get screwed. I bought the extended warranty for 4675 when I purchased my truck. I think it was the Zurich comp plan. Covers up to 100000 miles. Think I’m past the 30 days. It’s Ben about a month and a half. I think I’m Callie tomorrow and canceling. And if I would be appreciated do they don’t try and give me the run around.

Of course they'll give you a run around, but don't give up, be firm, it's your right to cancel it. Worst case they should refund you whatever is left on your warranty, which is 99%

Did you end up getting the warranty changed through your dealer, or go through one of the contacts recommended here?

It's completely asinine that the games my finance guy played were flat out lies. I thought I did my due diligence by asking questions to confirm whether I can purchase the warranty later on. I wish I recorded the entire conversation.

Call your finance guy and demand he canceled the warranty. He should be able to refund you full amount into your car loan account so it'll pay it down a bit.

Then contact Jerry to order this warranty again at a much lower price

Thanks Kap - part of me wants to just call the Toyota customer service number on the contract because I will have a hard time keeping it professional with the lying finance manager, but I also think they deserve to be called out on their BS tactics.

I did. It was switched to a platinum 10/100k 0 deductible. Still overpaid a bit as the loan was already funded. But It’s not worth the hassle to me to have money tied up everywhere to save a few hundred bucks.

they def shouldn’t have played the games they did and their review, which they are begging for 5 stars, will reflect that. They back peddled like crazy when I called them out for selling me a warranty that was not a Toyota one at an absurd price that doesn’t cover anything.

It's a shame because I honestly walked out of that dealership feeling pretty good. For me, it's about having the full 10 yr coverage for the same price (if not less than) I paid for the 8 yrs.

In your case, it sounds like they really tried screwing you with the 3 yr warranty. I understand that commissions is part of their job, but I feel really bad for the unsuspecting folk who fall for the first BS offer they get. When you do get a "good" deal, they always tell you to keep it hush. SMH...

I hear you. I didn’t feel great about the warranty to begin with. I feel better now but likely won’t use that dealer for anything again.

I know Toyotas are reliable (particularly the 5.7 Tundras) and the chances of exceeding the cost of an extended warranty over paying out-of-pocket are unlikely. Still, I went ahead and got the Toyota Platinum warranty coverage and I am going to enjoy the piece of mind. After all, I kept my first Tundra over 19 years (until a couple drunk drivers destroyed her)

My 2020 Tundra factory warranty expires on Jan 22nd. I live in Washington State (10.2% sales tax). [After recommendations on this forum] Just spoke with Jerry at Midwest Toyota and extended my factory warranty out to 100,000 & 10 years. It’s a Toyota Platinum warranty zero deductible. Jerry is the guy! Plus, you don’t pay any sales tax.

PM me if you need his contact info.

@TacomaLC - could you redact all the identifying information? I was told to limit it to PMs as much as possible.

Otherwise I do agree with you, he's the man!

If it's not Toyota Extracare (TFS/Platinum) or JM&A (fidelity) then it's a non-toyota warranty and generally miss the mark at some point on cost, coverage, or overall customer service.

As a service advisor dealing with those two companies are great to work with as other companies 100% will give you (or your advisor) the insurance company run around to wiggle out of repairs, especially on bigger ticket items.

TFS and Fidelity by far have shown me they have the best coverage possible, not to mention ease of claims.

Anyone buying certified used...you can upgrade the 100,000 7yr powertrain to a Platinum TFS Wrap (comprehensive to blanket with the Powertrain) for the best coverage and price in case you are in that situation. You can start to see low mileage used Tundras and if they are within a few grand of a new one, it's the value of the certified warranty over MSRP and should take that added value into a positive consideration.

@TBS, would it be possible for you to send me the information for the extended warranty? Picking up my 2023 Platinum tomorrow, I did all the paper work remotely as i am getting it from a different city. I paid 5k for a 6yr 100k, but i though i was getting a bad deal and have been looking around. I going to cancel it when i pick it up.

    Thanks for any help!
