Hi All! I'm a newbie to this forum and will be a first time owner of a Tundra.

Can you all help me put together a list a checklist that new buyer can use prior to taking delivery of their new Tundra. I am looking for all types of issues that one experienced after taking deliver of their truck... Any issues, regardless if its big or small, or if its factory or dealership mishap, etc. Even minor stuff specific only to your truck or one that you find to be annoying after taking having your truck for a certain period. Things that you did not know was there when you did your test drive or inspection. Even things that just bother you personally when others might be okay. Anything! is better than nothing, right? I find its always best to have everything written down and have it handy in case the buying process itself takes ur mind away. Some dealers are known to keep you distracted from various known issue that they hope they can avoid. Anyway, thanks in advance for any input you can share.

The only checklists i know the dealer from my experience look at is what they expected to deliver. Manual, quick walk around, show you how to use the controls/features within the vehicle, etc. I am hoping more specifics. Here is a list created by others purchasing a Ridgeline. I am sure its not the same but i just want specific to the Tundra and personal issue that each of you had with your own Tundra.

    Example of the Ridgeline checklist:
    1) Tailgate smoothness and latch/unlatch both ways is poor (sticky or loose)
    2) Rear seat folding and latching (up and down) is stiff
    3) Plastic trim poor fit interior and exterior
    4) Operate each window 10X please - some have failed after delivery
    5) Missing twist tabs on bed power outlet door
    6) Weatherstripping/gasket around the rear window was uneven (sticks out farther near the edges than in the middle)
    7) Speaker cover that hides the dash speakers doesn't sit flush with the dashboard
    8) Trim under taillights loose or uneven
    9) Black rocker moldings especially on the forward part of the bed installed incorrectly
    10) Interior lights not working(dome and map)
    11) Side vent on dash not opening
    12) Alignment (toe) off causing drift
    13) Front grab handle loose
    14) Bolt covers on top of rear roof garnish missing

    lots more. just and example.

Question: Any one experience window rattle, water leaks, weather strip coming off, etc?

Have never experienced any of those issues. No issues, other than bumper bracket recall, I have experienced with this truck

There might be a couple minor things that might pop up in the next couple of months but really, our trucks have very few problems common enough to worry about at time of delivery. I really can't think of anything you're likely to find on the first day other than a problem with the Entune syncing. I'd worry more about any scratches or dings or missing parts like floor mats or something the dealership might have screwed up.

Make sure you have a spare tire. Seriously.... Look everything over. Make sure you have everything listed that the truck is supposed to have.

    Welcome from CO!
If you're buying new- ask for exhaust, remote start, protective film, etc. they'll do one of them if they want the deal bad enough. Trust me ;)

TRD Air Filters, Front door windows tinted to match the rears. Wheel locks, Talons Garage cat shield, Tyger Automotive soft tonneau cover, WeatherTech floor mats with Tuff Skinz Custom Emblem kit, Toyota OEM Emblem Black Out kit. AVS vent covers on all four doors, Red Tundra letters on front bumper & TRD highlighted in Red on front grille. Tailgate Tundra Letters in Black.
    Vinny,

Welcome to the marvelous group of Tundra owners! Enjoy your truck! I've had the pleasure of owning 3. I can't think of any check list ever. Even if there was something missing Toyota would take care of it. This is definitely not a Ford, Chevy or Dodge

    Welcome

Exhaust? you mean the TRD cat back system or just the tip only? :) Yea they currently have some good incentives going on right now. Plus my offer is pretty low already Hopefully we will find a middle ground :). You think the protective stuff is worth the money? did anyone get the extended warranty and if so can you tell me how much you spent?

When we got the wife's car I made them do my truck lol.

I have an extended warranty, but do not recall what I paid.

When you make your detailed inspection list, take another set of discerning eyes with you that know how and what to look over a brand new vehicle. You would be amazed at what someone might notice that you might miss.
Over the years I have found very little wrong with my post delivery inspection with Toyota products.
    No show stoppers...FWIW....

If it has the integrated brake controller have them check to make sure it has the newest programming, Toyota just released it in June to help with issues.

HA! Well thats what i am hoping. To be honest, having purchased over 10+ cars overs the years, mostly Toyota\Lexus\Honda and Acura and I must say i've found very little issue if any coming from the factory install however cant say the same for dealerships. Guess their QA are not up to par as the factory.

Have you taken delivery yet? Make sure you check the driver seat and make sure its solid. Im refering to the bracket it sits on. Tundras are notorious for this from my research. My bracket was broken and my seat had lots of play in it. Took several dealers to finally fix it.

Look for anything that is NOT covered under warranty. For example damage that they can say was not there when delivered.

Imop the protective coating is not. At least that's what a buddy of mine who owns a body shop says. It's nothing but a glorified wax job. That's when I bought my 08. Things change, but I would definitely be cautious of that add on. On the other undercoating was a must since I live at the beach. Good luck and post pics when you get it.

you mentioned you will already be sure to look, but SCRATCHES. I was so blinded when picking mine up, sitting all pretty in the showroom for me that day. I never noticed a 1" scratch on the tailgate. A week later I did, but it turns into he said/she said crap.

I'm pretty sure 7/100 platinum in my region cost is $1,175. I paid $1,250. I have a friend that is a finance manager at a different dealer than where I bought my truck.
