Not a bad install, lots of meticulous work to hide the wires. That is time consuming.20221128_174751.jpg 20221128_174732.jpg 20221128_174715.jpg

Very nice! I need to do this too, did you get the OEM Kit or what did you buy?

What switch is that? I’ve got a simple toggle on mine that needs replacing…and maybe relocating. I like that spot, any risk of hitting it when loading stuff up?

I used the kit below from Amazon and modifed it to fit. The LED strips are like those for home use, I measured with my OEM rails for mounting stuff. Pulled the endcaps of the LED enclosure and cut them where the lines are marked to cut. Similar to what is used in homes with an enclosure. Ran mine from the rear of the truck to the front end of the rails, there is a hole on each end of the bed by the rails, dropped the wires in there and they come out under the truck. Rewired and modified harness from there. Mounted the switch where you see it via another hole that is in the bed by the tailgate. Used 3M VHB tape on the lights and switch. The two sided that came on the lights was garbage.

I used the switch that came with the kit below, no chance of banging it up. Tailgate closes well. Only thing to make sure you dont get the wires tangled up with the spring\cylinder for the tailgate which you can see when running the wire from under the truck.

I recently bought the swing cases and they block my current bed lights. Is there a chance I could remove those and use the wire that’s already there to connect in these lights?

I'm certain you can, the harness that comes in the kit is very adaptable. It comes with its ideal method of connecting, yet it can be modified to suit your needs. I was thinking of swing cases, too; my tonneau has levers that lock it in, and I may not be able to use them.

I have one swing case so I moved the light to the front on that side.

I would do something like the OP did if I had to do it over..
I'd certainly think you could tap these into your current bed light wiring..

That kit has been in my Amazon "saved for later" cart since summertime. Had a few occasions where i kicked myself for not committing to the install already. Light coverage looks great. Did tape them to the bottom side of your bed rails?

I have a handful of items in my saved items too. I used this tape https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MAQBPEM?ie=UTF8 to stick the lights on the bed rails that are stock from the dealer. Referring to the rails for mounting stuff.....dont know the technical name.

The stock tape on the lights does not work well. I removed it and used the one from the link above. Also used it to stick the switch on the bed, the switch has a small hole from the factory. Filled it with silicone, good to go.

That was what my plan was too...well except for the switch. I was gonna put one of these (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08F3BGF68) in the existing driver side hole just under the tailgate end of the bed rail.

Was debating making that an override switch to work in conjunction with a magnetic switch.

I have a spool of that 3m tape from a different project.

I would use that switch in the same hole I mounted mine. Less prone to be messed with (kids), I considered a magnetic switch too. Didnt feel like running more wire.
