I have the 2022 CarlinKit AI Box with 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM. I think it's the same as the latest Binize box but cheaper.

The 1 annoying issue that I have is that the carlinkit box doesn't automatically see/connect to my iphone's hotspot. Perhaps it's an iphone issue. I have to go to my phone's hotspot settings page for carlinkit to start seeing the hotspot name.

I been doing some research and Carlinkit CPC200 came pretty highly rated/recommended, so it’s reassuring that you’re happy with it.

Regarding your hotspot issue, I doubt it’s the box’s fault. I work out of my vehicle and use my iPhone’s hotspot for my ipad on a daily basis. Often times, I have to go into my hotspot setting to turn it off then back on to refresh it in order for the ipad to re-connect.

I’m going to put in the order tonight and report back with you to see if I have the same issue. If so, I will reach out to Apple support and see if there’s a fix.

I have the CarlinKit 3GB RAM + 32GB ROM and have been very happy with it, not issues at all. I also have the iPhone hotspot issue, it’s not the CarlinKit box, it’s the phone. No matter what I am hotspotting to the phone, you often have to turn the hotspot function off and back on for the device to connect.

Finally got it in tonight... This will make those long days sitting at a construction site much more tolerable!

Question. I have read all about Binize but I cant find a firm answer. Can you play a downloaded video off your phone thru the Binize onto the OEM screen on the dash. Think of it as downloading a Netflix show to your tablet , then linking the tablet to the binize. Sometimes we don’t have cellular data so we can’t stream and have to play a download

Think you'd have to save media on an SD card or the box itself.

Just so I fully understand this Binizie Box's functionality...it plugs into the main CarPlay USB port & allows for a full Android 9, 10 or 11(based on box purchased) interface on '22+ Tundra's w/ the 14" Infotainment System?

Reason I ask, is that I've been waiting months on a similar device, called Carluex that just came in, which was supposed to offer same/similar functionality & can't seem to get it past connecting for a split second & then immediately disconnecting.

I've been trying all sorts of troubleshooting with the company, as they stated that it has support for Toyota's uptown 2023 models, but to no avail...works on my Jeep, with an aftermarket Alpine CarPlay head unit, but can't seem to get working on my Tundra & may end up going this Binizie Box route, if it's continued to work without issue for you guys? I'd really LOVE to take full advantage of that beautiful 14" screen with one of these devices, so just want to ensure I'm fully understanding how the Binizie works & that it continues to work without issue(s)?

That is correct. Most here are using them for the ability to stream video to the screen via Plex, Netflix, Hulu, etc. I do not have the Binize box, I have the CarlinKit box. It works great, no issues at all.

Awesome! Thanks for the quick response! I'm essentially looking to use mine for very same stuff, so that's very helpful.

I saw on their site, if I have the correct one below, they have options for Android 9, 11 & now a 12 device...which OS version do you have, as I don't necessarily need to be on the bleeding edge, but would prefer the version that I know is tried & tested working stably?

Is this where you purchased from?

I purchased from Amazon. It is Android 11.

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B9BRJ6JN

Mine is the 3GB RAM/32GB ROM model. Listed on the CarlinKit site as the TBox Mini. The only thing I use it for is streaming video on long trips, so it’s fast enough for me. You can always spend more for one with more RAM/ROM and faster processor/more cores if you think you will need/want that.

Ok forgive me as I'm trying to understand these things and the system itself.

    1. I know I can use my android auto for some stuff. Can I tether (not hotspot) the Toyota system to my phone to use my cellular data? I know this may be a strange question, but it stems from using the Toyota system music options versus using them from my phone through android auto. I had the free wifi for a month and I like the interface over android auto.

    2. On these various boxes, can I tether the box to my phone (again, not hotspot) so that I can stream Netflix etc.?

To the best of my knowledge, no you can not tether either the truck itself or one of these boxes to your phone. You can hotspot the truck and any of the boxes to your phone.

Thanks. I want to tether cause it's usually faster and because I have unlimited tether but limited hot spot lol.

In my experience, don't waste your money as they are all running a customer ROM and they're slow and undependable. I had issues with the unit I originally purchased with 4gb RAM and 64gb memory, so I returned that and purchased the 8gb RAM and 128gb of memory... Same issues.

Apps constantly times out and would have to be forced close. I did noticed an improvement after I recently updated it to a new build released last month. All in all, still a custom ROM so it's not perfect.

The "older Binize" I ordered in April 2023 came with Android 12.

@1794Tundra1202 I fished my cable(same one as MaiToyTunCap) through the front and fished it through. I removed the inside filter cover in the glove compartment to grab it. I did notch the cover for the cable too. I wasn't about to tear the dash apart.

@TheSS712 Thank you - going to give it a shot this weekend. I agree with you there, not trying to take the dash apart. Nice to know that I don't have to!

Someone with small hands can definitely grab the cable after feeding it through the dash. I fed it through pretty much right above the usb outlet.

Can someone post the link to the binze they got? I got a little confused looking at them and couldn't figure out which is which.

Is the only way to switch out of the Binize box or similar to unplug it? I was hoping to leave it plugged in and go back to Toyota screen or Carplay.

Seems like someone would have come up with an app on Android to basically just bypass having a box and just use the phone. That's basically what the box is no?

That's 1 of the things I really like about the SR5. Plus the black window trim.

Yes. To go back to the Toyota screen, one of the icons in Binize will take you back, I don't recall which one, I hardly use my Binize. Once back there, you can then switch in setting to you iPhone and get to CarPlay.
