I was 4 wheeling up in gypsum co this weekend and then suddenly my abs light, brake light and vsc light came on. All my instruments stopped working. No tachometer, no speedometer, and my odometer stopped working. Also no ac. The truck drove fine. Made it home to denver 200 miles. Any idea what could cause this? I disconnected the neg on the battery. No luck! Maybe a fuse? Thanks

You worded that like you weren't able to disconnect the battery cable. Sorry, I must be getting old.:annoyed:

If you toasted a fuse, you'll want to fix whatever caused it to blow. Otherwise the new one will go and you'll be none the wiser. I see that you didn't mention the Check Engine Light, was that an oversight? If the CEL is on, see if you can get the code read.

If the CEL is not on, I'd venture a guess that you buggered one of the ABS sensors or the related wiring. Crawl under your truck to go have a look. If you have the time, maybe even pull the wheels off to check them in detail.

Thanks for the feedback. Sorry. I did disconnect the neg. that did not fix the issue. No cel. I'm looking at the abs sensors now. Can the abs sensor effect the speedometer and odometer and ac?

Honestly, I haven't had that kind of experience with the electrical system on the Tundras, so I don't know. But what I could guess is that it's possible that if you were to have shorted the wires to an ABS sensor, the short circuit may have caused a fuse to blow, and maybe that fuse was also for the odometer. But I would think that the A/C gets it's own fuse, the big draw items usually do.

Check the wires first, in enough detail that you're satisfied you're not missing something embarrassingly obvious, then start looking at fuses that you think are related. After that, you might have to look at ALL of them because sometimes things aren't wire the same way we would've done it.

Aside from those things, I'm not sure what I'd look at next.

There was mud, snow and dusty roads. Very rocky. I was thinking something just got dirty or wet or? Not sure. At this point I'm just glad the tundra go me off the mountain and home safe.

I accidently stretched the speed sensor harness too far and opened up the wires causing loss of continuity when swapping out coil overs. Got almost the same indications you have except the speedo. Everything flashing but no CEL and no limp mode. Could still manual shift. Basically drove normally. I did a little research and found out that some had the speedo issue, sometimes no manual shift, and even limp mode for the same messed up speed sensor wire harness (or defective speed sensor). You having the "no AC" is the outlier on this which causes me some concern.

I will look into that. My abs, brake and vsc are all solid. Not flashing. No limp mode and it could still manually shift although it would not tell me what gear I was in. Thanks Matt.

Actually my lights were solid too after flashing a lot at first.

sounds like the fuse, look in the fuse box under the hood itll have a fuse diagram. 1 fuse controls all three speedometer abs and vsc

Checked all fuses this morning then took it to Stevinson. The wife wants it fixed now because we r going on a road trip on Thursday. So far they have only said I need an ac condenser and the train horn caused that problem? Interesting. Still waiting on more info.

Sean installed it when he owned the truck. Seems like a crazy thought that it could cause an issue with the ac condenser.

How is that possible? Which Stevinson did you bring it to? How does an A/C condenser cause the symptoms you described?

Did the horn rub a hole in the condenser from where it is located and bouncing around?

I can see maybe a leak and problem with AC because of that but not all of the lights.

Sean your old deleted build thread didn't have a pic of the location of the horns. Assume they were behind the grill.

There's been some weird issues popping up lately. The "the train horn causing AC malfunction" has moved to 1st place

It sounds like there are 2 separate issues. Yes the horn rubbed a hole in the condenser. The say there is some wiring issues by the driver side fuse box. Only 6 of the 18 points of contact are working in the ecu. Stevinson east. They want to redo all the wiring. They r not sure if it's from the horn. Sean Is there some wiring from the hypertech?

I took the tundra to Jace aka @LOTSOFTOYS and he was great. Amazing service and he helped figure out the issues with the tundra. First issue was that the train horn rubbed a hole in the ac condenser. He will install s new condenser. I will relocate the horns to either inside the bumper or possibly somewhere under the hood. Second the speedo healer from HYpertech had 2 broken wires which caused the speedometer to not work which brought down half the network. Glad I can sleep tonight.

I know this is an old post - but did you have the following
    1. Flashing dash lights no CEL to start
    2. Outside temp guage not working
    3. Shortly thereafter speedometer and tach not working - airbag light solid - vss light solid - brake and ABS solid?
