fun fact: oem outer cv boots are fatter than aftermarket boots. I got the cv axle all put back, did a clearance check, and noticed the shock bolt was rubbing the boot when turning to the left. No problem, I’ll just turn the shock bolt around. My eibachs are only 3 years old at this point, it should be no big deal, right?

wrong. Inner bushing sleeve is rusted to the bolt, so I ended up grinding the piss out of the nut/bolt to make it clear. Will address it when I need to replace shocks next.

Man do I hate salt…

 

Took the topper off. Took the plastic side rails off. Put down butyl tape everywhere. Put new seal on. Put topper back on. Took 2 Advil.

 

Not something a torch and impact could have broken free?

 

the impact broke the nut free, but the sleeve just spins inside the bushing. Only solution is to cut it out, which means replacing the bushing and bolt. I needed the truck for house supplies like a week ago.

 

I’m with you on the rust hate. Been waiting a week to get my truck fuel line fixed after it rotted through last Sunday.

 

Fuel lines are the only lines still original on my truck. I just pray and spray blaster surface shield every year.

 

Started the truck up today to make sure I haven’t lost enough pressure in the line I couldn’t get started.

No immediate fuel line squirt so I should be good for having them starting it up when the tow truck gets there so it can be driven on the lift.

Figure I’ll just ask them to cut the hard line at the fitting so they can zip it off with an impact if their flare wrench slips from grasping it.

No luck myself with the flare wrench and rust penetrant but I don’t have the best tools for that.

 

So I spent the last 7 months dumping money into this truck. I got it just about where I wanted it and than this happened.

We’ve got a member here looking for an 05 master cylinder they discontinued and Toyota no longer sells the rebuild kits. If the 06 is identical, I’m sure he’d buy it from you.

tbh im not 100% certain on how all the insurance stuff works with getting the truck back. It had 90,000 so I thought about selling the motor and trans if things work out. It sounds like a pita

 

They’ll offer you a buy back price after totaling out the vehicle and giving you your check for the blue book value and some upgrades you may have made if they’re recent and have receipts.

I myself would be stripping off the new parts and putting back the old since they rarely give you full value. At least in my experience, YMMV.

 

Will it help? I don't know. The cap looks good however. Also, I felt the need to get a torch today. Will be useful for many things. Including starting a camp fire in about 20 mins.

AT-205 was really worthwhile for me.

They'll come at you with blue book value. It will be low, unless you have a more-fair company for auto like USAA. They've done me very well in the past.

Thing is, in most states, you're legally entitled to replacement value. Given it's low miles, that's in your favor to negotiate, you can use any of the similar-miled Bring A Trailer sales as comps to prove the value of your truck was much higher than blue book. Furthermore, if you have receipts for any of the upgrades recently, you can then factor that in, if it's damaged or they don't plan to let you keep it.

You can always ask for the buy-back price too. Use it as a parts car for a new, higher-mile 1GT.

If in doubt, get a lawyer, it'll be worth it. Insurance companies have a gaggle of them. Some employers offer free legal services as an employee benefit (mine does).

But ... you never answered the big question: Leak status after double-bulb?

 

The graph just tells me the expected quality of the sound. Missing the pound of a kick drum can be seen in a graph or trickier issues like out of phase drivers (one pushing while other pulling) can show up in the graph. It is one part of of using a digital signal processor, dsp, which can do other tricks like eq the tweets separate from the mids and delay the audio signal to each driver so the sound gets to you all at the same time to create a realistic soundstage. Its a rabbit hole that goes deep. My truck sounds fricken great right now and Im a noob at tuning.

 

I was never capable of getting a solid grasp on this stuff. Always the installer, never the tuner.
