Another thing is I wanted to circle back on the locked tunes with HP tuners. I never heard back from OTT contact when I asked him about that specific question, and sure that was to be expected. I'm still not convinced they are encrypted or locked in any way. I have HPTuners hardware. I take a read file, send that to them. They mod it and send it back. I install that file to my truck. There's no encryption in that process. HPTuners software even has a file compare feature that will highlight any changes that were made between two tune files. I just work in IT so that particular topic interests me and I'd like to fully understand it

I think that if you try to go in to the tune and try to look at tables, you'd find that on a locked tune, you can't. You can eat the cookies, but you can't look at the recipe.

I’ve tried to Read ECU with their file loaded to it and it doesn’t pull anything up.

I don’t think it gave me that option. I think all that stuff gets erased when you flash it. I could be wrong but you probably have to overwrite that file with one that’s not locked in order to pull the file from the ECU.

Typically you/tuner saves the factory file then the new file flashes into the system.

Maybe there's a "Pro" version of the software that allows you pull the tune that's on the ECU, but if it's locked and you don't have the key, you still wouldn't be able to look at the tables.

I used the NGK 94122 Ruthenium on my truck. It is a heat range 6 but that is cooler than the stock plugs. I have had no issues out of mine.

VFTuner (all versions) includes a stock tune directory for ALL VF supported ECU ID's, which is included when you first install the software.

I feel like I can guarantee you that they lock their stuff. If not, it's a mistake. It would have to be. The tuning community is too competitive to just leave their stuff unlocked as I've explained before. We can Key Lock (meaning it can be flashed to multiple vehicles with the same ID, but only the one who locked it can view the tables within), or VIN Lock (key lock + assigned to one VIN only for flashing).

You cannot read a VFTuner created tune off the ECU.

HPT can't read the file off the ECU regardless who or what it is, all it can do is read the serial number and provide you the original tune it thinks you had, but even that is not read from the ECU since they can't do that.

As for a locked file, it's like Wynnded said, you can open the file (to flash it) but can't pull up any tables or values if it's locked, and there's a message of the tune file is locked and cannot be viewed. That's how ViktorG had our tunes setup.

I’ll have to check again, but pretty sure mine aren’t locked. Not sure it matters in my case, I won’t be learning how to tune anytime soon I don’t think.

Whatever this forum told me to do
    for the record:

Caltracs traction bars are NOT made to be constantly driven on rough roads.

    Both sides constantly clatter now.

I've tightened them so many times it's gotten old.

I will now move to SDHQ's.

here's the deal now...when I turn right into my driveway, i get a big clunk from the right Caltrac. I think it's that damn front leaf spring bushing mount thing. Caltracs has you remove the urethane bushing and press in an aluminum bushing. I think I hammered it out of shape by daily driving in our warehouse yard (working rail yard).

It's comical how rough our yard is.

driving on a smooth road is great.

SDHQs also do this we just had the old man’s rebuilt after a couple years of use. The ends needed replacing they’re a Currie Jonny joint style.

I'm gonna look harder - I don't think it's the Currie joint....I think it's where the leaf spring mounts in the front.

Would it help to use the OEM rubber bushings instead? I thought I saw you could press those in alternatively to the metal ones and it would be less noisy, maybe even Viktor did that in his install video. Can’t remember.

It would be tight to use the orig urethane ones.

I'll find the culprit tonight. I'm going to loosen the traction bars and see if that front joint is shot.

if that joint is shot...I'm screwed. I would need to get the original bushings pressed back in.

my stock leafs already have the Tundra W shape.

    and....

the inlet to the intercooler is loose & leaking.

hence, why I always have to add cooly fluid.

I'll fix that sh1t when I install the Brite Box Fogster thing.

    life is good.

I circled where my Caltacs mount. I think that joint is shot.

This is from the MOTOIq youtube.

    That SDHQ mount look rightous.

There is a little shop outside our gate that does landcruiser & 4runner overland stuff. (Teq auto solutions) Gonna see if he will do all this.

    I'm thru fvckin with it.

Looks like a combo of different ends bushing, heim, jonny joint. He had a some annoying creaking etc We tried tightening all the leaf areas etc. Ended swapping all the traction bar joints and no more noises.

@nobodyintexas - You should try the UCF and let me know how they are. SDHQ doesn't make a set for my long bed truck but UCF does. They look like they would be quiet.

    Harrop 2650 here. 12 psi.
Had intercooler leaking twice. I replaced them last time 2 yrs ago.
They caused misfire on cylinders 7&8.
I am trying with Harrop to replace them under warranty.
Otherwise I will get back to TRD. Can't keep dealing with coolers leak.

so, I loosened the Caltrac completely...and noticed it was not really loosening.

well...it was all ganked up with that fine crushed-rock train dust + the thick drying WD-40 I was lathering on to stop the squeaking.

So I beat it loose with a rubber mallet. got it moving again.

tightened it back up. no more clunk.

I think it had gotten loose, but I couldn't tell because when I shook it with my hand it still "felt" tight. the gank was foolin' me. when enough force came along...clunk..it moved.

they still clatter on rough roads...but at least the clunk is gone.

another thing I noticed...after extinguishing all available cuss words...the passenger leaf spring looks a smidge caddy-whompus. the U-bolts look ever so slanted. normal? the driver side is straight. when you look from the rear of the truck - the top of the passenger u-bolt is slightly leaning towards the driver side.

I know the guy that put on the traction bars on, and he ain't very patient when fvckin' with leaf springs.....

I'll take a picture Saturday & ask that y'all help diagnose.
