There isnt a lot of difference in those water jugs because there is a mix of each drain per jug. I watched the last drain and it was much cleaner, not exactly like water but not too bad either.

Took it for a drive and no leaks and temp looks good. This is another one of those jobs that just feels good to have completed.

Breh, that looked like the bottom of my drain bucket as well. I think it might have been the OG radiator from 2002 with 188K miles.

I ordered my rad from scamazon last year (before I knew better) and it was messed up pretty good. So i returned it and they sent another. Also damaged had to return. I ordered from Rockauto and it was perfect.

I'd be shocked, and eat one of my shoes if you got that kind of shit out too.

Are the later first gens an iron/steel block too or are they aluminum?

My VVTi is cast FE block with AL heads if I'm not mistaken. I think the 1UZ was AL block. Not sure about 3UZ. Probably a question for @empty_lord, I'm too lazy to look it up.

I've used NAPA brand before and was pretty impressed. It wasn't a recore, so brand new. It was for Tacoma with a manual transmission and no transmission cooling lines, so some added cooling capacity in absence of hot transmission fluid. That was a bonus.

I know you already purchased a good brand (op), but for anyone in need, you may consider this option, for what it's worth.

Denson, or Toyota brand, is the way to go, but if you're short for cash (who isnt?), then NAPA can probably help.

1uz and 3uz are all aluminum. 2uz is the only iron block.

One day I’ll do a 3uz swap in the tundra to shave some weight and gain some power… since all the 2uz shit will bolt up.

Interesting on the 3UZ. Too bad my engine is so low-mile, else the 3UZ swap could be interesting....

Only reason I know about the 1UZ is because I lusted after the '98-'00 SC 400 when I was younger. Back when I used to like that style, ala 240 SX etc. was incredible. I'd still take an SC 400 today if the price and condition were right, it's still a 2-door funbox, but I'd really hafta fight with the desire to LS-swap it and upgrade to MT.

yea the 3uz for whatever reason makes more horsepower and more torque than the 4.7.. in similar powerbands too.. 10 extra ft lbs. 90% sure its all cam related. maybe the kelfords would fix that..
