Last wkend we went exploring in the hills. A couple miles of slowly driving up this hill in 4HI had the pan at 220°F. Certainly glad I had the cooler!

Try using 4 low if you're not traveling high speeds, you'll have lower temps. I use 4lo for off road and 4hi for inclement weather on road.

Yes, aware of 4LO and trans temp.

Gutcha, just figured I'd throw it out there since I learned just from reading in this forum after a guy posted a high temp warming driving 4hi on the beach. I always thought 4lo was for real tough off roading but in reality even just driving on sand at low speeds makes sense.

Same, and agree. I never really used 4LO until I drove that 4Runner in the hills out west. Never felt like the power and the torque of 4LO was needed with the V8.

Order placed for a 20 row. I noticed the 5% Tundras.com discount doesn't work anymore. Installing a stage 2 Harrop in the next few weeks.. might as well have them install this too.

I was doing some fairly mild off-road driving, wasn't even in 4wd and my trans pan temperature was 240. Torque converter hit 260. 2020 Tundra

Decent time to grab a cooler while he's running a sale. I have the 20 row and my temps stay between 185-191 now.

The 20 row has a 0.55 quart capacity and a normal drain and fill is 4 quarts or less. Id be willing to bet it still ends up being about 4 quarts but might as well have 5 on hand just Incase. ATF WS comes in a box 6.

Does Toyota typically pin the thermostat when doing a drain and fill?

Has anyone relocated the trans cooler to a different location? Having it right in front of the s/c heat exchanger has my IAT temps 10+ degrees hotter than they were before. So I need to move it where it’s not directly in front of it.

Interested in an answer. Are you running the 15 or 20 row setrab? Will be installing s/c in next couple of months

I went with 15 because I figured it would block the HX less.

    Interesting.

I run the 15 row & Avg ~25 degrees of delta in IAT. (Harrop sensor vs dash)

are you saying you were running ~15 degrees of delta before the HX?

    that would be remarkable.

I was 30-32 degrees above ambient and now I’m atleast 40 degrees above ambient after the trans cooler

    yikes.

to be fair...I have no idea what I was before the HX.

make sure your I/C pump is working - my relay was intermittent on & off. all fixed now.

and - not that this is the culprit - check your I/C fluid. I was 6oz low this weekend - for no damn reason!

Dang I'm running the 20-row trans cooler. But also ordering the 101 intercooler from frozen boost. I'll have to get all my monitoring sorted out before then

About to add one of these TruCool bypass valves to my 01 4Runner whose getting a new reman'd transmission. I run an aux bypass cooler and this will bypass both the aux and the built in radiator cooler to get the trans up to operating temps faster.

Wonder if it will help with a '15 sequandra, thoughts? Or can the sequandra be pinned instead and use this to throttle the use of the cooler. This thing bypasses until fluid hits 180+.
