A while back someone posted a 1000 Hp on pump gas motor from a shop down in Florida. If one was to put that in a Tundra that would have to have a special tune as one would Tune a motor for a SuperCharger correct?? Wondering how that could be done and if you would have to start from zero???

besides all the obvious like fuel pump, injectors, and this and that.

That looks sick! At least you can feel good about probably never having to do that job again with the quick change setup. I think I watched a video Viktor put out of changing the coupler, and when he did that he removed the coolant crossover pipe and then removed the snout. You have to deal with some coolant mess then I suppose, but that was how he did it which maybe could save some others a little frustration if it is indeed easier. That is, if I’m even understanding your struggle properly. Anyway, So which pulley size is that one you installed?

When I bought the URD pulley I bought their "tool" but never ended up using it. I couldn't get a way to pull the pulley without pulling the snout to begin with, and with the snout removed I just put it in my HF 20 ton press which I highly recommend. No heating, and personally I was worried about stripping the threads using URDs bolt method. I can take a picture later how I set it up in the press.

You are correct, I even watched part of his video since SCOL instructions say remove the blower. I was able to get the snout completely unbolted without removing anything, and when I couldn't Tetris it out I watched Viktors video. I even got to the point of removing the top radiator hose, but you can't access the bottom coolant crossover bolts without removing a bunch of other shit, which at that point I decided it'd be easier to pull the injectors and the main body since at least those are relatively easy to access.

That photo is with the 2.0 pulley and appears to have similar backside clearance to the old pulley which is great, and radially no issues. Likewise the 2.3 fits the same. The hub appears to have the same fitment as the other pulley hubs too where it's flush with the shaft on the end and is touching the bearing inner race, so visually everything is lining up like it should!

    IT'S ALIVE!!!

    PXL_20221021_005701211.jpg

2.0 pulley installed and running great! All we did was drive to Taco Bell, but it gets into boost really early in the throttle now, and coming back I did a short full throttle pull and hit 7.7psi right off the bat--before I was at like 4.5psi. So first drive impressions is about a 70% boost increase at 5500ft elevation. I'm making the same manifold pressure that I was driving down to 2500ft elevation, it's absolutely insane! AFRs didn't appear to lean out, but I'm still making less manifold pressure than a stock sea level supercharger, so not surprised by that. Nothing fell off or slipped yet, so today is a win! Will test it more tomorrow.

    Maybe @nags ?

Probably requires a built motor too. Transmission seems to be a weak point too making it difficult to put down all that power.

Strange. I consistently see temps drop ~-10 from my normal delta when I use a my local touch free carwash. It may be my less restrictive aftermarket grille. Who knows.

Strangely enough I hit higher temps on some of the cool days but typically I sit at ~27 to ~33.

Kind of mid level deal. The ECU is useless imo, and probably only has a TRD tune which isnt anything special. I doubt it includes a fuel pump either. You're saving about $2500, but will need say $1000 total to "complete" it, being the tune and a fuel pump (could be less but I'd budget that), so you're really only saving $1500 over a new one. If it was $3k I'd say get it, even $4k is a decent bargain. Pushing $5k ehhh. Ask if it comes with the fuel pump, and if he says no then say keep the ECU and offer $4k.

Does the magnuson kit include the tune? I saw instructions for flashing the ecu and emailing files back and forth with them.

Magnuson has gone through a few tuning/software/hardware iterations so I don't know what they currently do. But yes, it'd be totally plug and play from them and not have to do any weird swapping of ecus. Or you can get a better tune through somewhere else, I'm just saying if it was me I wouldn't use the ECU the dude is supplying.

Oh I agree, seems hokey, I don't think I could buy used anyway. I could see that costing more all said and done. I was just curious on the tune.

I’m guessing you weren’t intending to do a WOT pull on the way home, but then that Taco Bell hit and you were forced to boost home to the bathroom. Your next development project could be a methane injection system. I had chili last night, and I believe we should be considering methane a renewable resource.

Things are just chilling for right now while I pay off all the current mods. Once I'm caught up it's time to get into this motor.

Did some data logging today. Highest I saw was 8psi @ 5500ft. Running 11.5 AFR, versus 10.5 like before. Not sure if that's due to injectors or purely the tune. Also getting more knock retard than before, though not too bad. The MAF with the 2.35" pulley before was around 4.5V and now with the 2.00" is at 4.8V. I think larger intake will be needed at a minimum for lower elevations, and maybe injectors, and time to make my own tunes.

She's nasty though! Faster now at 5500ft than it was before at 2500ft elevation. I bet it's insanely nasty down low, maybe to the point of avoiding WOT to save the engine.

Just curious if there's anything like the URD Tacoma 3* Cam Gears for the Tundra? Holds the exhaust side open slightly longer. Did that mod on the Taco. Or do we just go straight to new cams?

Ugh! Mine maxed out at 68% . Tuner couldn’t figure out what was causing it. Any idea? I mean I’m okay with it, truck runs hella good. Doubt I’ll go be going WOT all the time lol.

Yea just looked at my logs from this morning and I get 83% TPS at WOT. Throttle in HPT (if you're using that) is measured in degrees of the butterfly valve, with 86deg being the max.

    upload_2022-10-21_15-41-27.jpg

Now how TPS value is specifically determined, I don't know. At idle (~600rpm) I'm at 16.5% TPS, and WOT is 83% TPS. 68% I guess sounds low, but maybe the spread of idle TPS to WOT TPS is more important than just the high number? Does my 83% TPS equal 86deg of the butterfly? I don't know. Maybe if you modify the throttle angle specs above so that the 67.4% APP is actually 86deg and see if there's any difference in performance? That's where I would start with my limited understanding--ie just make WOT happen with less TPS.

A lot of good information in this thread on HPT for beginners. A few videos tutorials from HPT sprinkled in comments. Justdsm lists all the parameters he monitors for VSC Scanner, I think he said is the same for the Tundra

for anyone wanting 90*, if it's like the 3gtacoma, the ecu doesn't allow it. Maxes at 89 because it can get stuck open. It *can* be pushed past it, but no point in doing so
