That really sucks. No one should have to wait that long for parts if they aren't backordered.

 

You forgot the shortening of wheel bearing life due to the added stress of a spacer.

 

This is why I really haven't got new wheels. Don't wanna run spacers but need a min 4.5" backspacing and I believe that basically goes with -12mm offset. At least in the same width wheel I have. So much goes into this and last thing anyone wants is to be stuck with 1200 dollar wheels they can't run.

I believe my wheels are -12 offset and 4 backspacing. I dont really know anything about wheel sizes but read that this size was good to help keep the wheel away from the frame better. Hopefully I wont need spacers but we will find out today

I think it's a good call. It took me a bit to get the 285s sitting at the right offset, but they are nice.

Yep, they lost my business too. They mispackaged a part and refused to own up to it, with Eric giving a string of bullshit excuses which my local parts dealership was, like, "Yeah, naw, that MFer is full of shit and stringing you along... that's not how the Toyota parts system works..."

I've switched to pickup at my local dealership and just come to terms with the fact I'll be paying taxes.

Look back up at my pics. We're both gonna run the same size tire on the same size wheel. Then tell me it will look good sunk in another 1.5 inches. Do the stock wheels and tires fit the wheel arches right?

 

I don't totally follow, but it looks like you are on 1.5" spacers. I think we have the same wheels 17X8.5 0mm offset. With 1.5" spacers I had too much tire radius on turns, so I went to 3/4" spacers and that works almost perfect. I did beat my washer reservoir into submission, so that's cracked and needs a fix. I'm on DC, so whatever that means compared to AC.

 

I got some new headlights with the fancy DRLs. They work great and make it through the off-road dirt, mud, rock climbing, and river crossings with no issues.

Saw those on a FB group wondered if anyone on here had tried them. Are the lenses plastic? I'd try them but I'm too heavily invested in the projectors to just swap. Thinking about swapping the projectors into OEM housings if I can find them for a fair price. The after market plastic lenses just hasn't held up to the sun in just 2 years and is now discoloring even with cerakote on it. Not happy with the look of the lenses color wise. I love the output and cut off.

 

I'm still on stock starfishes. For the trucks with fender flares, spacers are almost mandatory. The tires are sunk in and just look weird. I guess if @oscardog86 doesn't have the flares running w/o spacers would be OK. I think DC vs AC is the same, as long as they both either have flares or don't. Well, I guess if you get the wider 33s spacers wouldn't be necessary either. I dunno. I'm just rambling at this point.

 

My camper shell is almost 13 years old and has been through plenty of abuse, so it's time for some TLC. One side of my camper shell does not stay latched because the catch bracket is so worn down. Ordered a pair of new hinges, latches, and catch brackets. I'll take pictures during install.

Front frame caps came off way easier than I expected!

 

I wanted flares at one point but the sheer cost is crazy. Figure it'd be better spent on wheels and have some left over. I'd not even want new wheels if these stupid center caps weren't til foil and chrome looking. And impossible to buy now so if you do wheel hub work you're just stuck mangling them and running without a cover which leads to more problems where my truck lives in winter.

 

Are you welding.on a new bumper or rust prevention? Guessing bumper as you'd have to cut the weld also

Yeah hopefully by this afternoon I’ll have a sweet tube bumper mounted

 

Just did the rear suicide door window levers, kit from Amazon was aluminum and had to drill out a bit. Getting the old pins out was a b*tch due to worries about the old plastic on the main lever/handle and being so close to the window glass.

Ended up using a dremel to carefully remove the old plastic linkage and needle nose pliers to pinch the pins down and pull out. On reinstallation I used an awl on the top side to expand the pin and taper it a bit so the top is flared out.

 

Like an upsidedown paint tray scoop?! Those are dope!

Didnt get a chance to drive it much but got the 33 skinnys installed and doesnt seem to be any rub anywhere at all. Ill have to see how it does offroad, but I took turns at full lock around the parking lot and didnt have any issues hitting the frame or anything. Ready to get out to the desert or something soon now that the weather is gonna start cooling down soon!

 

I love my skinny’s. They just rub the mud flaps a little.
