I wouldn’t compare this kit to the Westcott lift or rough country. This is an entire suspension upgrade. As far as this kit I think it’s worth it if you are gonna off road or want to have a better overall drive.

Gotcha. I'm just curious because rough country has a 6" lift that replaces the entire suspension for half the price of the trd lift. I know that the trd lift will come with all the Toyota warranties too.

Also, side question, did they have to calibrate your safety systems or cameras?

I think the warranty itself is worth it. The install price wasn’t what I expected but it is what it is. As far as the safety sensors and features the kit is all compatible with that so I believe it was adjusted. I do not have a front facing camera so I wouldn’t now about that.

It’s probably important to know that the TRD lift uses taller shocks/springs with upgraded components to achieve most of its lift while the RC lift kit is all spacer pucks that is placed on top of the existing setup.

So is night and day between the two performance wise in most settings hence the price difference.

Ok I am going to post my own personal experience and choice, but also trying to help others out with questions they may have about lifts. For my own vehicle I currently have a 2022 SR5 crewmax (wanted LR TRD PRO, but after waiting months bought the ONLY new Tundra my dealer got in months with intentions of trading it back in with them once they got the TRD PRO in I wanted, but ended up modding it up so much just going to keep as I love it now) with the Rough Country 6” lift and 37” tires (NITTO ridge grapplers 37/11.5/20 no rubbing). Yes the RC lift is spacer type lift only and I even agree the Toyota factory lift is a much better lift as it’s a true suspension lift with actual better replacement suspension parts and comes with a factory warranty! That is awesome, but for me I wanted a much bigger lift than 3 inches, again personal choice. The factory only is around 3” (haven’t seen one in person but told closer to 2.5”), and that just was not high enough for me. If they had choices for higher lifts from Toyota, 100% I would of choose that route, but RC is the only ones so far that have the taller lift. Ultimately I want a 8” lift with even bigger tires than the 37” I have now, but no one has come out with that yet and I have contacted so many R&D/tech departments (icon, skyjackers,BDS, etc etc) and talked to them personally and all say in development or on the list for upcoming development and all say 2023 at minimum and I obviously have little to no patience so got the RC one for now. I even offered to bring my truck to them to experiment on for the 8” lifts. There are many people that put RC below everyone else (Westcott, etc), but you are hearing from someone that actually has the RC On his truck right now, drives it almost daily and I am being as honest as I can be, it drives very well! Yes it feels a slight different than it did when it was stock (little tighter in turns) but has a SIX INCH lift and 37” TIRES! In the city I have no issues other than people waiving me down to say nice truck or ask me what kit, etc (happens quit often), but the drive is actually smooth, no BS. I don’t do rock climbing or heavy off-roading, but the dirt trails I use again no issues at all. I didn’t do this set up to be an off road overlander type rig, I just like the look of a lifted truck and bigger tires, again MY choice. Some reading may dislike these type trucks and only prefer stock looking, but that’s ok to each his own. I always say if you have the money and want certain things in life then spend it as you can’t take it with you when you leave! Yes you loose a few miles to the gallon on big lifts/tires and yes Any other lift other than the Toyota factory will void your warranty, but ONLY on suspension/tire things not the whole truck. That’s a common misunderstanding. So if your audio system or windows or door locks stop working then those will still be covered under warranty. They only void the warranty if they can show the item you put an aftermarket part on causes the issue. That’s a whole other thread anyway. Also my install shop disconnected the battery and all the sensors (lane change, pre crash, etc) recalibrated themselves and all work perfectly now so much so it locked up on me yesterday as I got too close to a vehicle in front of me that was turning. Got to give ‘em more space! I did go by my dealership after the install and showed and talked to the service manager (know some people there) and he did confirm since aftermarket parts used if any issues on the suspension occurs they have to determine if the aftermarket parts caused it and if so would not be covered, which we all know they gonna do regardless and it’s a decision you have to make as the truck owner. At the same time giving me this bad news, no joke had a line of workers coming check out my truck and taking pics and all saying they love it, but not enough love to warranty any issues suspension wise apparently. Anyway, hope I helped someone looking into lifts and hit me up in this thread or PM if any other questions. Think I covered most and sorry if too long. Before and after pic below. Big difference:

edit: forgot to mention braking. I have a buddy that has a 3” lift with 35” tires and no big issue, but with 6” & 37’s you need little more time/distance between other cars. Hopefully once I get the 8” inch lift and even bigger tires someone also comes out with a larger brake kit for the 22 Tundras. I have been looking for that too, but no luck yet.

Has anyone found a source for covering the grill emblem? I found this on ETSY but nothing yet for the new Tundra...
I'd hate to change the entire grill just to black-out the only chrome...

I plastidipped my emblem. It's real easy to pop the emblem out and plastidip it.

That's perfect. Come to think of it, I could use Raptor Liner. Just so happens I have gallons of it waiting on a CJ-7 project...

I've "wasted" enough money on this truck already. I had a couple cans of plastidip at my work station, so I figured I'd save some money by not spending $150 on an entire overlay kit just for the front emblem. All my other emblems on the truck already came black. Now to find some other accessories to "waste" money on.

Sorry disregard the above response. Long day and trying to do too much at one time & got companies mixed up. Thanks for the Expedition Overland reference. Hadn’t heard of them and going to Google them now to contact.

Btw, I did check our powerstop brakes in the past when I was searching and Just checked again and on their website nothing for a 2022 Tundra. Maybe they did a custom kit for Expedition Overland? I have sent EO an email asking cause no phone number to call them. Hopefully they respond with some good news :fingerscrossed:

Did they fix or update their remote case? I remember someone had posted that they had to insert a 3D printed spacer/filler to have the key removal work as expected.

Meant to comment on this the other day and got side tracked. Man your truck is a fricking BEAST!! Love seeing stuff like this on here. I swear If I didn’t love the rear window row down so much I would love to add something like this on mine, but I don’t do as much off roading like you, but man I really love the look!!!:101010:

WOO thanks for all the kind words brotha! Yeah, it has been a super fun build process; taking a vision in my mind and putting all the pieces together to make it real. Super super happy with the truck right now and really looking forward to just taking it out more and enjoying it.

Still lots of work to do on the interior of the alucab to build out cabinets/benches inside for better organization and storage. The build is at the point where I don't have to load/unload much gear every weekend which is ideal since I do typically go camping/exploring every weekend.

Let me know if you have any questions or if there is anything specifically you want to see more of!

That looks great! Did you do any prep work on the emblem or just clean it and sprayed away? Is it just held by tape or does it just snaps on and off?

The emblem just snaps off and on. There are tabs at the 10 o'clock, 2 o'clock, and 6 o'clock postions of the emblem. I just put my finger through the gaps in the emblem to slightly push the tabs inward and pull it off. I then cleaned it with isopropyl alcohol and did 4 coats of plastidip. First 2 coats were light. last 2 coats were heavier making sure I got all angles. 10 minutes between coats. I put the emblem back on 8 hours after last coat to ensure that it was dry and had proper adhesion. Let me know if you have any other questions.
