Yeah, just a little dollop in the boot hole where the plug slides in. Can't have too much. I put a good pea sized plop in each one. Maybe a little bigger.

The only reason I added grease was to keep the plug boots from sticking to the plugs from heat cycling.

 

These dodge tow mirrors that @04TundraTRD has are probably in my future!!!

I have yet to see someone with natural looking fitment on those setups. I've seen two get close, but all the extra drilling, the need to seal, etc....

They're probably amazing for coverage while towing anything long, though.

 

Yeah, I havent seen any good looking sets either... if only we could get somebody like @teqcustoms to do something for the tow mirrors....

One day I'll be finding out on these dodge mirrors maybe. Just kicking ideas around right now.

I think with a little help from @daveeasa I could have some turn signal activity similar to how I did my ditch lights on the V6.

 

My F250 had a pull-out-shaft tow mirror set up. 1999-2007 generation.
Maybe take a look at those. Plentiful.
I sorta recall the mount being similar shape to Tundra which was similar to the F150.
some fold, some have heat, some have signals. There were a lot of options.

 

Drove crackie to the new~ish job today. Filled up the tank. 19 gallons. $70 meh

I’m dumping in 92 ethanol free since I don’t drive more than 3 miles to preschool once a week. I have a really hard time remembering to do Fuelly since we can’t pump our own gas in this state.

 

Damn, that kinda short-trip mileage, your heads will look like mine before long. Increase that OCI!

 

Yeah, I’m on the low side even more these days. I generally do annual oil changes at the start of the year. Usually 1-3k at that point. The move did net 1000 per vehicle though and that’s probably a good thing for these old trucks to get hot for long periods.

 

Replaced my throttle body lever assembly over the weekend with the one that I got from @Brynden29. No pics of the "new one" installed, but I do have pictures of my broken one.


Drove crackie to work today to test everything out. All was going well until I got a check engine light, and no more throttle response. Didn't have my code reader so I didn't read what it was. Didn't have time to really diagnose anything either. Just unhooked the battery, then fired him right back up, and choogled on to work.

 

Also, made a little video today on the way into work. Didn't get any of time I was on the side of the road disconnecting the battery though. This was right before all that happened.

So now it's just a matter of seeing whether it chunks out again after the ECU completes re-learning, eh? It'll be interesting to see if it gets to the end of the next re-learn process and chunks just the same.

 

Well, it didn't chunk going home. About 28 miles. I'm not sure how long it takes to reset/relearn. Time will tell I guess.

 

I believe the voltage regulator (VR) is going out on crackie. I see some on rockauto for $110~$120... Question for the group. Would you guys go through the trouble of doing the work to change just the regulator... I mean I gotta remove the alternator anyways...

The VR is part of the alternator, right?

I see a whole ass 100 amp, Denso alternator for $140 with a core charge.

 

For ~ $20 more you get the whole thing...go for it!

Get the sequoia 150 amp alternator. Same price. Better deal.

 

I’d open it up and replace it but that’s me. Yes, the VR is part of the alternator.

 

Just know you'll need to re-pin your connector and trim off one of the ears on a perfectly good alternator, which isn't hard, but will likely double or triple the time for the job. Evaluate whether you have that time or like the thought of those extra actions, or just a simple swap. I'm curious, was there no 130A option in earlier years? If so, that could be a good upgrade, but I seem to remember my convo with @FirstGenVol that it maybe wasn't an option. I'm too lazy to go back and look.

That's definitely the least expensive route, and its' really not difficult to rebuild with a quality kit.

However, knowing my time constraints, I'd get a Denso reman replacement. Swap it in. Then rebuild the old using a quality kit, and repack it into the new alternator box as a replacement.

I've still got my previous 100A with about 5k miles on it I could send you. But it uses the same square connector the 130A and 150A use. I just can't recall if you'd need to trim the ear off or not. LMK if you want/need my spare 100A alternator. The plastic backing is cracked but you can just swap the one over from your old alt, it should be a direct swap.

I have a bunch of the connectors from experimenting and also from wasting $100 on the “voltage adjuster” which was kind of a useless POS compared to the HKB fuse.

de-pinning and re-pinning is about 3-5 minutes for me, I did it three times, square, back to oval, back to square.

a conversion harness is doable but the oval male is not an OEM part so it’s knockoff China stuff and that bothers me. Plus the extra length in that location.

Cutting the ear may not be necessary? I’m not sure Jason cut mine. I think you can fab a bracket for it and use it even? Wish I could send photos. Next month I should be able to.

 

I think just for time's sake... I'm gonna go with a direct replacement for 00-02 or whatever years use the oval.

 

Looking back @ my chat w/FGV, 100A is Denso 210-0403. The smaller 70A is 210-0464. Both have the more-ovular connector. Summit is out of the 100A, RockAuto ~$140. OEM rebuilt p/n should be (I think) 270600F02084 (27060-0F020-84), ~$230.

Both spares I had were the newer square-style connector. @w666 got my 130A already. I still have my @100A but I'm not actively peddling it. If you ever decide to re-pin, gimme a shout. If I can't get someone to give me the core price and shipping for the near-new 100A, you can have it for shipping ($20-25) knowing the extra effort you'll need to make it work.

 

It's really ridiculously easy to change oval to square.

 

If someone can find an OEM part number for that square connector... I'd gladly take your alternator off your hands @shifty` Does yours have the 3rd ear to grind off or no? I can't remember right now.

Oh, I know its easy to change. I'm not afraid of repinning. I've done it aplenty on ole crackie. I just would want an OEM connector. I see the Flea-bay link that @joseph_sal posted is for Non-Oem...

Also, a thought I had while driving to work... You think it'd be possible to just change the exterior housing of the 150 amp Sequoia to the older housing for the 00-02 trucks? Not saying that's what I'd do. Just a thought I had.
