I might order just the housing and find my own LED and install it myself

The lights fit great in the heritage grill. I installed them yesterday but did not actually connect them because of the moisture water issues. I washed my truck this morning and sure enough it had moisture in it. Any of you guys that actually connected it to power have issues? If it is connected will it cause a short of some kind? I wrote a review on the Rave website to see what they come back with. CF18F2C9-77D0-4168-9C01-EEE1D0644409.jpg16CF8A94-1DF8-4467-84EB-34AD39044B39.jpg 16CF8A94-1DF8-4467-84EB-34AD39044B39.jpg

I've been talking to Rave and they tested a light, fully powered dunked inside a glass of water and it was fine. I'm not a fan of seeing condensation inside the housing so I haven't installed it. From what I was told, the lights are water resistant and will operate just fine but again, not a fan of the look. I also asked if removing the housing from the 3d print was an option and was told the light was never intended to be removable.

over time the leds and board will start to corrode and they will eventually fail. to test for winter have him dunk them in a salt water mix then take them out and let them run a while see how long they go.. only way they would last is if they have a well covered poly marine coating over the entire board.

I did ask for salt water test because I go to the beach quite often and salt water condensation would definitely get in there overnight. I'm thinking about adding a bead of silicone around the 3d housing and dunking them in water to see if that stops water intrusion

Hopefully there will be more options. YotaLEDs is another but not sure when they will release theirs. They finally released it for the SR5/TRD grill and I was waiting for that for many months before I switched grills

Geez, I feel like they should pull the product until they can fix this issue. I wouldn't want to buy something brand new and moisture inside of it, even if it "won't hurt" the LEDs....

Well, ordered just the housing from Rave Offroad and got my own lights, perfect fit. I’m already pre-wired so ready to go but didn’t see an easy way to install without taking off the front.
I got some amber marker lights coming in from Alibaba so I guess I’ll just wait to do it all at once

I'm confused....are you doing the alibaba TRD PRO knock off ambers or the Rave housings?

I'm going to have both to choose from. I still can't decide on the amber lens or the blacked out lol

I have both and can tell you that the Rave leds are way brighter but the grille looks like it's missing the lights from afar when they're not on. I'm in the middle of sealing up the lights to the housing so I can swap in the Rave lights and remove the knockoffs

What are you using to seal them? I was thinking some sort of clear resin that is UV resistant would be a good option.. Suspect mine will have the same issue most everyone else seems to be having with water intrusion :/

I'm going to try clear silicone on one, black silicone on another. So far I have plugged all 3 housings where the wiring comes out at. I have 1 housing drying with clear silicone and I'm going to dunk it in water tomorrow to see if it's properly sealed. My guess is that they will both equally attract dirt but that the black one will blend in better. This is just to seal the LED against the 3D printed housing. As far as sealing the entire housing, I was thinking some ceramic coating. I have some cquartz leftover and was going to apply a few coats of that.

Do you have to take the entire front off when installing these lights or did I miss something?

I would...Instructions say you can do it by loosening the shutters but I'd just take it off..doesn't take long

I had to get creative man.. it was a pain in the ass. You’re not gonna be able to pull the shutters back far enough to get you hand in there I dropped the lights in between the shutters and the grill and used the holes in the front of the truck including the light bar slot to move them back up into position. It was difficult but I can be done. Hard to explain lol

Well, I did it…without taking the front off. Somehow managed to angled my fingers through enough

Using Rave Offroad housing and bought my own lights instead

The housing fitment is ok, wish it filled in just a little bit more. Nothing bad, but nothing great.

I mean it works, I know exactly what you mean but it’s better than the empty slots. I haven’t plugged mine up yet.
