you could buy a retrax for that. OEM cover is a MX4 Blackflip essentially, Realtruck sells them for about half that if you contact @SantanaRealtruck

If your dealership is like the ones around me yes, that's a little high but normal. It's not good, but normal. I think it's about $1000 + tax then they charge almost $300 to install.....just crazy. My dealership mandates they install it as part of the rip-off scheme.

My bad. I think in my mind I saw Santana and I automatically gravitated towards Carlos Santana and made an assumption. I made the correction. Thanks for the heads up. I went with the Bakflip MX4. My dealer wanted 1800 just for the cover. They wanted 2400 for the cover + installation. That just seemed ridiculously high to me.

$2400 is beyond comical!!! Who would pay that? That's almost $1000 more than I paid for my Retrax Pro, crazy. And I did the same with Santana, except I was corrected on the phone by one of her colleagues about the 4th time I said "him" LOL.

You won't regret dealing with Realtruck!

I’m about to pull the trigger on a Sentry CT cover + Elevate Rails, are there discounts to be had by calling Realtruck vs. ordering from the website?

Looking to order a tonnaeu cover soon and deciding between the MX4 Backflip and Extang Xceed. I like the look of Xceed and has good reviews from the site, but not much from Tundra owners. I've only seen one post on the Xceed on this thread, can anyone else comment? Likes/dislikes?

I tried Exceed, did you see my post(s)? If not, cliff notes version - nice if you don't drive with it all the way open very often, very water tight, a little heavier than most other folders. I've had the MX4 on a different truck as well; even with it's flaws, Exceed hands down if I was purchasing one of those two again.

They don't have the 6.5 foot bed cover though.

I bought a ‘21 last week with a cover. It’s missing 1 hold down in the middle. Cover isn’t going anywhere but would love to get the part missing. Can anyone identify the manufacturer of this? Been looking and I can’t find it.

I am not familiar with the brand but from the photo of the clamp it looks like it may be a Kikito https://www.amazon.com/KIKITO-Professional-Tri-Fold-Tonneau-2007-2015/dp/B08CK4LF8T

So I realized yesterday that my rail for the Weathertech cover might be missing a "tab" that helps lock in the middle of the cover. I email them with pictures explaining the situation. They are sending the parts that were missing which is good, but wont be in for over a week. Then told I shouldn't drive with the cover on until then. Glad I just drove 11 hours this past weekend with it. Not loving the quality control from Weathertech right now. They are actually just Agri-Cover and branding as Weathertech.

Update : The shims are too soft and with them on the seal lifts and the tailgate won’t close. Basically the revolver cover is too narrow for the truck, I am returning it after having wasted many hours.

@SantanaRealtruck or anyone else that may know these answers. For the Bakflip MX4 do you need the bulkhead seal? I see a video where its installed but the instructions say if you have a drop in bed liner you don't need it and the 2022 Tundra comes with a bed liner already in it. Also is there anything special that needs to be done for trucks with the electrical outlet in the bed, or does everything install the same as is? I just ask cause I think I saw a drawing somewhere on this site that differentiated between the two? Thanks in advance,

I'm eagerly awaiting the arrival of the Peragon cover, but not really getting any information from them as to potentially timelines, which is frustrating. It seems like pretty much all of the covers have some sort of major flaw. If I'm going to spend around $1000 I want something that works, not just "kinda" works.

Send an email to sales@peragon.com. I got a quick reply from them. They said their cover is close to being released and they have a list that they will reach out to prior to public release. Hope this helps.

Great questions! Starting with the bulkhead seal, you are correct. The bulkhead, or front of the truck bed, is typically lower then the side bed rails. This is exacerbated with plastic bed rail caps, which only deepen the gap. The bulkhead seal is designed to fill this gap and help improve water resistance. If the bulkhead and bed rails are flat, which is common on composite beds, installing the bulkhead seal can actually create gaps and result in increased leakage.
For the BAK line of covers, the outlet will not pose an issue. Install as normal.

Peragon covers have a major flaw in my opinion.
In order to open them, you have to push the front panels down into the bed, and then same with subsequent panels until the whole thing is retracted.
How do you do that if your bed is loaded?

    None, yet
Looking at the MX4, price seems in alignment with all other resellers and the local Toyota Parts shop.
    Thanks anyway.

Does this cover mount to the holes that the track would mount to? Does the rail mount below this on the brackets? Do you have any pictures of the mounting system? They don't seem to have any special instructions related to Toytoas with the rail system. Thanks.

OK. Sorry about the last post I had not seen this video yet. Do these direct mount brackets of the first video come with the cover? I am looking for a direct bolt on cover. I had a clamp-on style cover come off of my truck in the past when the clamps came loose.

    Thanks.

Whoa there's a lot of information and opinions in this thread. There are brands I never knew existed. After looking around and reading until my head hurts I think I will go with the MX4. I just saw the OEM and MX4 side by side on two managers TRD PROs at my local dealership. Someone on here said the OEM is made by BAKFlip. They are very similar but I did notice that the OEM cover's top seal just ends at the tailgate while the MX4 actually has an end cap that covers the end of the seal. Also the seal along the length of the OEM cover had some wrinkles while the MX4 laid perfectly flat. That along with the price difference for OEM says the MX4 is the better choice of the two. No way I'm paying the dealer $1800 for a cover I can get and install while saving $800. Just my 2 cents.

Having just watched the MX4 install video for the 2022 Tundra on the Real Truck web site I think I will go with the MX4 as well. It will be an hour or so of fun to install and a sense of ownership/accomplishment too.

Personally there is no satisfaction greater than looking back at an install that I did with my own two hands. Additionally, I justify the hit to my wallet by calculating the amount of money I saved by doing the work myself. Sorry, I'm a mathematician so I am always calculating something. The only part of the installation of the MX4 I am not totally comfortable with is drilling the drain line holes in the bed.

So naturally, I ordered a Lomax from @SantanaRealtruck and then the Peragon went live today. They snoozed they lose. Anyways, if anyone didn't get the email from Peragon and were looking at one, let me know and I'll send you the link.
