Very Annoying Quirks? VAQ's. here's mine:

1.) Sun Glare off the hood! it's Terrible in my 2022 Tundra Limited. Never had a car or truck that I had to hold my hand up above the steering wheel to shed blinding sun glare. The hood contours need to be rethought or coated to eliminate this. It's a safety problem.

2.) Radio delay. (only noticeable when you're the brand new Tundra owner sitting at the Drive Inn theater and everyone else's radios in their new trucks don't have any delay.

3.) The Clunk underneath when you start the truck - every time. What is that?

4.) the Seatbelt beeper Freaking Out when you're just moving the truck 200 feet to the side of the house. (will dealers shut this off for free?)

5.) the Emergency Brake slamming on and pi**ing me off when I'm backing the camper up onto leveling blocks with the driver's door open. (Can this be bypassed?)

6.) The engine thinking it has to immediately stop when you shift into park; only to immediately start back up again, and then to be shut off again a second later when I press OFF. (Can you disable auto stop when shifting to Park?)

7.) Car play announcements can't be heard because the media currently playing doesn't pause or decrease in volume.

Buy a carista and disable it. 100% worth the $30 or whatever. There are also some other things that are configurable as well, such as beep volume for parking sensors, volume of the turn signal clicker, parking sensor range, etc. Really handy tool.

I believe you can disable that with the PCS button on the left side of the dash, but it will reset back to enabled when you turn off the truck, so you'd have to remember to disable every time.

This is obnoxious. Agreed. Really wish there was a better way to disable auto start/stop.
I tried to like it, but it is just annoying, and I seriously doubt I am getting any meaningful fuel savings out of it. "JuSt DoNt PuSh ThE BrAkE pEdAl In So FaR aNd It WoNt AcTiVaTe"
Tired of hearing that excuse. I get it, but would rather not have to spend the effort trying to feather the brake pedal to avoid using auto start/stop. Maybe it will be better in the winter when the AC doesn't blow luke-warm air at me when the engine stops on a hot day.

I've noticed when I come to a stop, the engine will idle very low like 350 - 400rpm for a couple seconds then climbs back to normal. But when it does this, I notice a slight motor vibration and the DC power dips down enough to hear the vented seats slow down a bit. Its just like an older car with a bad voltage regulator or failing alternator. Anyone else notice this? Maybe its a quirk maybe I have a problem...

Has anyone else noticed while driving at night when cars pass by you can see a red flash from their taillights reflecting from the air vent on the left side of the infotainment screen? When it first happened I though my dash was flashing a red light but when I look down there is nothing. Then I realized it was the reflection of the passing cars tail lights. It doesn't happen every time but I'd say 50% of the time the lights line up and make the reflection.

So to add to my previous mentions, I am curious about the trip meter. Mine is resetting on its own every time I turn the truck off, even if its just for a fill up at a gas station. This is annoying, because occasionally i want to track a true trip mileage that includes rest breaks. How do I stop this from doing this?

Also, has anyone noticed seeming excessive movement from the bed? My bed bounces a lot more than the cab, and the other day it was finally cool enough to enjoy riding with the rear window down. It sounded almost like the bed was bumping into the cab. Something I didn't really notice with the window up, but it was a notable bumping going on with the bed (could be that it wasn't hitting the cab but something else was moving).

I don’t know if it’s the lane tracing assistant (LTA) or lane centering assistant (LCA) but on an interstate it occasionally wants to follow the solid white line on an exit while traveling 80. I would say the software needs a little work.

The what seems to be slipping of the trans if you coast almost to a stop and take back off. Or it possibly not be completely down shifted. The sound you get coming from the back cab or bed when you hit a bump or rough spot on the road. I've had the lane center assist try to vere me into oncoming traffic to my left. And ya, the auto stop/start/off when you put it into park.

I was playing with the lane assist thing on a road trip a few days ago. I noticed this same thing. It was enough for me to go back to keeping it turned off.

I tried LCA while towing my boat and boy was that a mistake. Entered a construction zone where the lanes were shifted over. They had grinded out the old lane lines and put temporary ones up for the construction that shifted the lane off to the right. My truck decided to read the grinded out stripes and tried sending me (and the boat) into the pylons. LCA/LTA got turned off that day and hasn't been on since.

I don't like the adaptive cruise either. I drive a lot on 4 lane roads (2 lanes in each direction with no center turn lane). If I come up on a slower car in the right lane, then move over to pass, the sensor tends to see cars in the other oncoming lanes, freaks out and completely lets off the acceleration (while I'm in the fast lane trying to pass someone). I can see where I can change the follow distance, but I don't see any way to turn off the adaptive cruise and make it work like old school cruise control.

These systems are nice, but they are complete garbage if we can't rely on them. These systems are the opposite of safety.

On my ‘21, if I hold down the button to activate cruise, it becomes old-school cruise control instead of the adaptive thing. See if yours is the same way. I don’t like adaptive for the same reasons you mentioned.

I just went outside to try it out and, YES, the '22 does work that way! Long press to turn on the cruise and the screen reads "constant speed cruise ready". Thank you!!

Say you're coming up to a red light. You're almost stopped, actually 1-2 mph if it even registers. Light changes, you gas it and the engine revs up more than you feel the truck move. Like if you had a snow setting and took off in 2nd gear to prevent slip. Except you're in drive on dry pavement and the truck doesn't want to go like you feel it should.

My 22 oddly gets 25% better fuel mileage than my out going 2019. Not sure if that was in the design plan or not.

Mine has been in the 30+% range. But not comparing apples to apples. Stock tires on 22, vs oversized E rated on the 19.

Just minor stuff. For example, Undercover bed cover, Tufskinz custom door sill protectors, and TRD air filters.
There is a button to the left of the steering wheel with a little cone on it. That will turn off the backup safety so it won’t brake. There is also a button to turn off the engine shut off system so it won’t shut off automatically. Hope this helps on a couple of things.

From what I've seen on their site, Carista is not supporting 3rd Gen Tundra's as of yet. Do you have one? Does it work on your 3rd Gen?

Oddity for me: when I drive in Sport+ mode and turn the Tundra off and back on, it reverts to Normal mode. But if the Tundra is in Normal, Comfort, Eco, the mode remains.

Definitely not. I tested it yesterday. Slow down to say 4-7mph or so, then gas it to take back off. The engine revs up higher but you can feel the truck not matching.

All Toyotas and even other manufacturers are like this. They will keep ECO mode on even after a key cycle but will not keep Sport mode. It’s an emissions/fuel economy thing I think. Comfort does not change the engine or transmission controls so I can see why that remains on as well.

that’s the torque converter opening up but you’re still in high gear so acceleration feels weaker. You’re seeing like 2400 rpm right? Press harder on the accelerator.

I know that's what it's doing. Never had that issue in either of my other Tundras. I think the trans should down shift faster. If you push a little too much harder it abruptly downshifts. I don't like it.

Definitely this! I've never experienced this with any other vehicle. I did see someone on here put on a black wrap just in the center that covered those angles. I am seriously considering this.

The site doesn't have gen 3 listed as compatible, but I used it on mine and it worked just fine.
