When I bought my new truck, 5 years was 5.99% and 3 years was 5.49%.

Can't see signatures on mobile. Anyway, I wasn't arguing with you. I was just kind of shocked how fast 10 years goes by. We tend to think of 10 year old cars as really old but I still enjoy driving that car as much as I did when I bought it, if not more - maybe because I've had to drive the wife's Corolla so much.

Yeah, that was a bad example using Toyota right now.

I snapped up .9 for 60 via Ford in a
Brief promo in March. It was a Factor that made me cancel my order for a different truck I’d have waited for through all these increases and while putting miles on my trade and just get it Done. A month earlier it was about 2.5 when I ordered a 5.0 truck.

I told the finance guy he was lucky Ford is on my permanent shitlist after the last one I owned. My neighbor bought a brand new F150 around the same time I got my new Tundra and with zero done was given 1.5% for 8 years.

For the first time in Canadian history, anyone that took Pandemic money in Canada 2 years ago.
    . 25% Canada Bank Rate = 1.50% 5 year Fixed Mortgage Rate.
is now making 4% on that money with just a GIC, and it will keep going up with todays US inflation numbers,
much higher than expected. So expect a big US Fed bump at next mtg.
And Canada's BOC Bank of Canada will need to match rates to keep our dollar from going down.
    Just saying.
Nothing is going to be cheaper anytime soon.

I do plan on it. You know as well as I do that know the longevity and resale value are directly related. Like I already agreed with you, who knows what will happen in 10 years? I may have to have to sell it for an HD truck if we get the camper my wife wants.

And yes, I watched a 2010 Tundra with 491k sell for $7600 locally in August 2019 (before the pandemic). It was less than $30k new. I think we have different definitions of “isn’t worth crap.”

Edit to add: If I only bought one truck (again at 14 vs 17mpg) and used it for 500k miles with only routine maintenance, how in the world can you say it “isn’t worth crap” at the end of that timeframe? That’s just amazing to me. :notsure:

Oh yeah, another thing on the car loans, @Terndrerrr

I was very close to buying a new 2018 Sierra in June 2019. Because it wasn't the current model, they wouldn't offer 0% or whatever the good rate for new vehicles was at the time. The salesman showed me monthly payments for a 3 year term and a 4 year term and asked which one looked better to me. I think he was shocked when I pointed to the 3 year term (higher monthly payment) and told him I didn't want to pay extra interest if I could afford the higher payment (which I could).

illinois is hard. They only deal with instate folks most the time. I have some TN and MI connections. Where I bought my pro is the best place to purchase. Emailed the spec sheet, no deposit required, docu signed everything but one wet notary signature for odometer statement .

there are a couple dealers here who do MSRP, Im more waiting to see if the 2023 is cleaner build.

I have seen more and more recalls and TSBs for things, which is good, the list is getting smaller. I saw the air suspension TSB is out now too for the bottoming out. I think the turbo fiasco is over, so Im getting down to the fuel gauge and the wind noise

I have zero recall notices on mine and no wind noise. It's about the same as my lightning which has laminated glass up front.

good to hear, Im getting close to being comfortable pulling trigger on 2023 model, if I can find one.

I also have all the color matching BS to do so Im not sure a dealer will even play ball with that.

i wish I had a money tree like you have. My situation is maximize the miles from the old beasts. I'd love to get better MPG, but it always comes back to the saying "If it works, don't try to fix it." The old beasts V8 4Runners and the 5.7l do everything asked. I like to look around, see if I can upgrade, but I can't justify moving on from the old reliables.

Not quite - GM is still offering 0% financing for 36 months on Sierras. I could have paid cash but since they were offering free money I took advantage.

And despite this fact, I have *NEVER* gotten as many compliments on ANY other truck like I have the one I own now. *shrug*

This is why truck purchases come down to many different factors; and I'd submit to many people that probably the vast majority of people buy vehicles for different reasons than they should.

I bought a '13 F150 in '13; and traded it in on my '20 Tundra in March of 2020. I did so because it had proven to me time and time again it wasn't reliable (nor were the dealerships).

For me, reliability is paramount, and the 2.5 gen were the most reliable trucks out there, statistically. Granted, they don't get the best mileage, they're not the fastest, and they don't have the most payload.

But, I don't drive the truck that far on a daily basis; I didn't buy it for speed, and it can MORE than handle my '14 flatbed trailer and the occasional 18' camper.

Would I recommend it to people who have needs greater than my own? Probably not, but I constantly get told reasons *OTHER* than those most important to me as the reason I should not have bought one.

BTW - I've owned the last 3 trucks I've owned for 7, 11 and 9 years...so I am indeed one of those who owns their trucks for quite a long time.

If I could buy a 2021 lunar rock pro for what I bought mine for originally I would. But I paid less for my 22 pro than the two 21 lunar rock pros for sale in my town.

    Wow.

I think the 2.5 gen LRs will hold inflated value for a long time. The gen ended after the 1st year, so the only 2.5s in LR are Pros.

Are you saying that because you want to sell the 2021 for a profit..... or,
because you have been there done that, and would just prefer the 2021 now?
