    Lol…. Solid Axle Shaft
I replaced the passenger side intermediate and stub shaft in the front axle for a solid 1 piece shaft. No more snapping stub shafts for me.

Turns out it’s not necessary. For some reason I thought that both wheels would turn once the new shaft was in place because the whole diff carrier was rotating. Yesterday I tested the wheels with both front tires in the air and I could rotate one wheel which rotated the front drive shaft while the other wheel did not move.

Ahhh, nice. Do the RCV ultimate axles still wear quickly? Or do they have an alloy with better wear characteristics? That was always the downside with the Longfields I ran years ago in my FZJ80... converted the truck to part time with manual hubs to keep them fresh for the rocks.

Not that I know of. Although I finally figured out that the bands need to be ridiculously tight so that the boots don’t leak out any grease.

I’ve actually thought about that  Only thing I don’t like about the RCLT is the LT part. I don’t want my truck any wider cuz I already have a hard time squeezing through things as it is.

Test drove the truck and it drives and turns like normal. Nothing noticeable to mention. No issues switching over to 4Hi either.

I wonder where the weakest link is now :monocle: Maybe the TC cuz it’s chain driven

I’m going to make my own adapter out of aluminum block. I’m also getting a custom spud shaft made as well because apparently nobody makes a 22 female Toyota spline to a 23 male Mopar spline adapter.

I plan to remove the stock TC a couple times prior to installing the Atlas. Once to measure how far the adapter sticks out from the tranny bell housing and to measure the size of the sheer pins. The second time will be to actually get started on making the adapter. Third time will be for the swap.

There’s a way to wire the TC connectors so that when I turn the dial to 4Hi, I can flip a switch and the ECU will think the TC went into 4Hi, which will then trigger the ADD to activate. Will need a similar switch for 4Lo.

I previously mentioned that I wanted to hide the triple stick Atlas Transfer Case shifters in the center console so that the :ballchain: doesn't see it. Well, I looked underneath the truck and found out that the transmission cable goes right under the center console, which means I cannot cut a hole to install the shifters there. Looked for other potential spots but couldn't find anything that could easily hide the sticks.

    :monocle:

So I looked online and found someone that used pneumatics to shift their transfer case but after digging into it a bit it looked very complicated.

    :monocle:

Then I started looking into servos. Found out that robotic servos can generate a lot of force. One thing led to another and now I'm thinking of using 3 servos instead of triple sticks that will be housed in a weatherproof box that uses a bluetooth trigger.

I was able to create an Android app, a very simple one, that will send signals to the servo controller via bluetooth
Each button I press will rotate an arm connected to the servo, which will slide the collar into low, neutral, or high gear.

Just waiting on the servos and equipment so that I can test it.

I might get carried away with this app thing. Added buttons so that when I turn the Tundra 4Hi/4Lo/2wd dial I can press the corresponding button on the app to configure whatever relays I put in place to trick the ECU into thinking the OEM TC is in the correct mode, which would enable/disable nannies accordingly.

Nothing fancy really. I have an Arduino UNO with a 16 servo shield and an HC-05 Bluetooth module. I wrote the code so that each button on the app sends a unique digit. I have 12 buttons so numbers 1-12 can be sent over BT. When the Arduino receives a number I programmed it to rotate to a specific degree. For example, if button 2 is pressed, the number 2 is sent over BT, which translates to 180 degrees.

The tricky part will be figuring out where to put these guys. Right now I'm back to thinking of sticking them into the center console where I would only need to drill 3 holes to get the servo shafts to poke through. This will keep the electronics out of the elements.
