My 2022trd pro does it and from what I seen I believe it’s the rear tailgate…if u drop it down on the passenger this hinge has sooo much wiggle room and that seems to be the bouncing on the rear tailgate passenger side…I had my dad on the back seat with the rear window down and I was driving on bouncy roads and he was watching that corner of the bed on passenger side bounce around and making that noise

Thanks for your comment. After taking my truck back to the dealer for the annoying rattling for the 3rd time, they tell me they are ordering a new tailgate. They did say the problem is with the hinge. I do hope that's the solution.

I still feel something has to be done with the suspension. There is so much bounce in the bed area.

U hear it more with the rear window down…and also when u go over bumps bumpy roads and potholes …also 2 guys from Toyota came to my dealership to look at my truck and reported it to Toyota of North America….so eventually this will be a recall/bulletin on it…

And also my dealership gave me a loaner 2022 tundra sr5 and did the exact same thing so I knew rite off the bat it’s a Toyota Tundra issue for the 2022 models…

I’ve noticed that my bed is bouncing and rattling as I drive down my dirt road. It appeared to be moving quite a bit looking at it in my mirrors. I thought that it looked like the entire thing and not just the tailgate.

I was just thinking if the whole bed is flopping around because the frame is flexy like the 2nd gens, and if the new Sequoia shares the same frame design, how is its cab going to hold up over time if the frame underneath it is flexing like crazy?

Rite I think also cause it’s a composite aluminum bed so there is a lot of flexibility…now if it was steel then I don’t this would happen ..,yes we all know steel will rot out and composite aluminum won’t so u can’t win I guess ‍♂️

Stupid question but how do you tighten the bed bolts. Do you do it from under the truck?

I know there are the hex bolts in the bed floor but didn’t know if they tap in or if there are nuts under the bed. Just asking thanks

U just retorque them from the top of the bed …your tailgate also moves around a lot if u have it on a 45 degree from the passenger side I had to put rubber garments ….cause it’s so lose but I did a lot of stuff to try to eliminate noises it’s a little better but still does the noises …there will be a recall or bulletin on it once the engineers figure out the solution to fix it ….this is an tundra issue on a lot of most tundras for sure ….but like I said b4 I think it has a lot to do with aluminum composite bed ….the dealership did tighten my hex bolts but still does it ….

My truck is currently at the dealer for the tailgate rattle/loose they said the rubber on the hinges are crushed and order new ones he said Toyota knows about this issue.

Also at the same time they looking at an oil leak between the engine and the hybrid motor so my truck is down for god knows how long they open a case with Toyota and apparently Toyota is sending techs to look at my truck.

Open the tailgate, loosen bolts on the u-shaped posts that the tailgate latches too and slide them forward about 1/8”-1/4” on both side.. did mine the other day. Made huge improvement, took about 90% of the racket away except for the big bumps.. and didn’t make it any harder to open or close

    didn't know bed was alum!
I recall Chevy commercials dropping rocks or a tool box on to the bed of a Ford and ripping a hole and I think Ford changed the design after that ...
Most likely Toyota composite is stronger.

Just the painted side panels are aluminum.. the rest is composite. Haven’t had any issues with my taco composite bed and as per the engineering Dept, these tundras are supposed to be stronger. Rust free in Atlantic Canada is a win in my books by far, beside who in there right mind just launches heavy steel items in the bed with no regard for damaging something except for employees with a company truck they didn’t pay for..

I noticed a bouncing sensation in the rear when going over speed bumps. I'm guessing it's the bed shake you guys are talking about. My truck is a DC TRD OffRoad

Everything back there has to flex and move a little other wise you’ll have stress fractures all over the place…

Have you had the replacement rubber/bushing on the hinges replaced yet? Curious your observations; think I've observed the same.

my truck still at the dealership (for the oil leak issue) and according to my service rep the bushings on the tailgate were replaced and fixed the issue, I have not seen the truck yet so I’ll report back on this once I get the truck back.

This has come up a couple of times now with others experiencing what you describe. If you can get a video I'm sure it would help people move forward.

My bed defiantly rattles a bit. The loud banging, I get is from the tailgate, passenger side. You can lift up on the gate and feel the gap in the hinge. When I took it in for its first service I had them take a look at it. They said it was normal. I asked to speak to the GM and showed him the gap in the hinge and a video I had taken. We walked the dealership and found 3 of the 4 Tundra's on the lot did the same thing. He called me a week later and said Toyota is aware of the issue and is now making a new hinge set for the tailgate. He is waiting for the part number so they can order it. Was told they should have the parts in a week or so. Good News!

Circling back to see if you've gotten any update on the new hinge set for the tailgate?

Finally got the rattle fixed. Took 4 months for the parts. Both hinges replaced with upgraded parts.
