Official Rave Offroad TRD Pro Marker Light Thread

This was just from some rain while the truck was parked.

 

If these are indeed the same lights, I can only find one reference to water intrusion in the reviews. Maybe something is happening during assembly or a breather needs to be sealed?

I was never asked to make a review.
While I didn’t necessarily know I was a “tester”, I do know I was one of the first to buy.
I made this thread entirely on my own as a customer that was (and as of now still is) happy with the product.
I will be keeping an eye for the moisture and/or full on water in the lights for sure.

 

Makes sense. By calling the thread "official" I was thinking maybe this was the place to post your favorable review in exchange for a free marker kit or any other type of gift. Too much of that BS online - all Samsung has to do is give away some fridges and then you can't get honest reviews.

 

@raveoffroad any word on what we can expect moving forward?

 

I assume the mods kicked them off the forum or they deleted their account?

I just noticed all of their responses are deleted and their profile is now gone.

Kind of a bummer. I had placed an order with them just before this issue was uncovered.

Same. I reached out to them via their website contact form earlier today since I don't have FB. I just don't want to get ghosted after giving them my $95. Not saying their going to do that, but it just seems odd they dropped off the forum overnight. On paper, it looked like they were doing a fairly decent job at addressing the issue. They did a stop sale on the product and seemed to be working with their LED supplier. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@ColoradoTJ Not sure if you're allowed to, but any chance you could weigh in from a mod perspective? Did they get the ban hammer or did they ghost us?

I'm going to see if they respond to my website inquiry first before jumping straight to a refund. I asked them what they were doing with pending orders that haven't shipped yet. I asked if they were going to refund or find a new LED supplier for the pending orders. Worst case scenario...I'll seal the lights as best I can with some clear sealant and then swap out the LEDs with something else if they leak. I'll reuse the 3D housing since that's the real unique piece for me. The rest, I can replace myself.

 

Those lights he uses are like $6. I’m most likely going to replace them myself if he gives me the shaft. That’s why u buy this stuff with a credit card.

 

Why would they get the boot right in the middle of an issue affecting forum members? Seems like this makes it harder for us to resolve the issue now that they're not allowed on here

Hopefully mine don’t develop any issues. It hasn’t rained here since installing so no moisture in them so far.

They aren’t a fly-by-night company, so I would fully hope/suspect they will make everyone’s stuff right regardless of having a presence here on the forum or not.

 

It’s been raining a crap ton here in TX and so far it’s holding up.

 

For what it's worth. I emailed asking RaveOffroad for a refund and they fully refunded. I had ordered 8/12 and had not received yet so I canceled it. Glad theyre not crooks. So far im very happy with the alibaba markers lights.

 

They responded to me as well and said they’ve got a bunch of orders (including mine from 8/24) ready to ship but they’re being rigorous with their QC checks before they ship. They said they’re testing the lights against moisture penetration before shipping them and are getting a new batch from their supplier for any that are found to leak.

All in all…I’ll leave my order intact and let it come whenever they ship it. I understand they’re not an approved vendor here, but they’re also doing something relatively unique. They’re first to market with a marker light solution for the TRD Pro-style grill. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and give them time to work out the bugs. I mean, if this generation of Tundra has proven anything it’s that even Toyota (as big as they are with all of their resources) still misses stuff in the QC process. It’s tough for me to hold a small business to an even higher standard than a massive company like Toyota. Hahaha. Just my opinion.

I can’t fault a vendor for acknowledging an issue and then trying to make it right. We’ll see how it goes.

 

Here’s the update I got.
I’m only sharing so any others who see this issue have an idea of what’s going on on Rave’s end.
I’m Not trying to start any trouble about them being removed from the forum or anything, but this is the response I got.
Its not like they manufactured the leds, so they’re at least trying to investigate it.

 

I have these lights. No issues. I’m guessing the led supplier is superbrightleds which I’ve never had a problem with before…. Usually excellent products. I don’t see a problem with the price of $90…. If I had spent the time making these or something similar I’d want to make some money off the product but $90 is not bad.

The 3D printing isn’t bad at all esp on a part you can hardly see once installed…. I’d like an amber lens over the led strip but that’s me.

These will be easy to install and remove and fits the bill until a top notch product comes out which you know will be no less than $150

They look good on my truck and fill the holes up on top of the Heritage grill.
If I have issues I will contact rave and go from there. I think people scrutinize unfairly at times….. I didn’t expect to be blown away for $90 and I wasn’t but if you want amber LED’s on the heritage grill this is a good option. And I’m in no way affiliated with Rave.
I just wanted the marker lights and these fit the bill.

I'd reach out to them first. Last I heard, they had dunked some lights in water and were testing them out.

 

Just to let you all know, I left a one star review weeks ago on their site stating that it never said it was 3d printed and they filled up with water. Surprise....the review is no where to be found on their site.
Also, it's not a 'company', I'm pretty sure it's one dude in a garage with a printer and a website.
Not to bash him. keep up the hustle. He just needed to disclose they were 3d printed and acknowledge and fix the water issue.

 

pretty brave knocking someone else’s business practices when you yourself ripoff other user’s products and selling them as your own. At least you gave that user credit on your site after the fact.
