6112 Setting and Tire/Wheel Combo Thread.

I can finally add to this thread. I have been running my Tundra for the last 5 years with stock suspension and 275/70R18 Cooper Discover XLT’s.



This week I installed 6112 set at 1.9” (no spacers, only a 1/8” difference between sides) and 315/70R17 Cooper Discover XLT on Vision 17x9 12mm offset (thanks king.cong.1119 !).



I had to remove the mud flaps on the front and back of the tire and the inner wheel wheel liner that covers the back of the fog light. I didn’t need to but I trimmed a bit out of the bottom edge of the front bumper.


An unexpected thing is that I actually got 2.25” of lift from the 6112’s. Now it looks a little nose high maybe.

Next set of tires I’ll probably

• Add .25” spacers on top of my 6112s, move them to 2.5” settings
• Add +1.5” Coachbuilder shackles in the back
• Change wheels to 18” and move up to a 34” tire

 

Congrats and nice setup! Mine was nose high until I got a professional alignment and then a month of driving to get it to settle. The tundras lines also contribute to looking nose high!

 

Does this setup give you some rake ? I currently have 6112 at 1.9” and plan to add the CB shim on both fronts for .50” lift and CB +1 shackle in the rear to be level. Any other suggestions with this setup ?

 

Finally got around to ordering and installing my 6112/5160s at 3rd clip (1.9") setting since they came back in stock. I also installed the Roadmaster Active Suspension. I ended up purchasing the Bilstein remote reservoir mounts because the hose clamps that came with the 5160s broke on me...

I forgot to do a before/after measurement, but I'm not too concerned because I like the ride. Still riding with the stock tires since they have plenty of tread left.

 

Did you do the standard or heavy duty RAS?

 

I got the HD. I wanted a little bit of ride height increase from it so opted for the heavier one. I used a quarter for the adjustment spacing after I read about it being a good medium between the spacers they provide.

 

Did you add it the same time as the shocks and or can you tell what the difference the Ras made on ride quality?

 

I added it at the same time as the shocks. I haven’t hooked my boat up or loaded anything so I can’t tell how it does with some weight on it.

However, my overall impression is that it rides more smooth and controlled than stock. I was a little surprised because I thought the ride would be a little stiff after the upgrades. It’s kind of hard to describe but when I’d hit a bump or pot hole with the stock suspension, it would seem like I could feel the suspension shuttering. With the RAS and Bilsteins, it seems forgiving and doesn’t have the same jarring feeling.

 

Yep gives seem rake. Im still enjoying it 50k miles later. But you need the +2 shackle to get where I am with rake.

 

I actually want it level so that’s why I was curious how yours was. In theory the plus one I have should be level then. Good to know it’s still workin good 50k later

After reading all 69 pages of this thread i'm finally pulling the trigger. Probably the biggest help was calling David @Coachbuilder1 who was SUPER helpful and willing answers to several of my questions. I'll provide before and after photos at somepoint.
2018 Tundra Limited:
Bilstein 6112 set @ 1.9 w/ 5100 in the rear.
2 Driver side Coachbuilder shims (0.5 inch).
1 Passenger side Coachbuilder Shim (0.5inch).
+2 Shackle in the rear.
Coachbuilder Front Bumper Shim Kit
Looking to fit 275/65/R20 Open Country ATIII's with 20 offset.

 

Now I have added the RAS Heavy Duty. I like the rake better and the ride quality is a lot better!

 

Curious did this setup help with the so-called bed bounce?

 

I never had that issue so I’m not sure.

 

+25 is the magic number on wheels,

I think bed bounce is rear shocks are too soft for the spring

 

Finally finished my project. Bilstein 6112 on top setting and 2in shackle in the rear. 18x9 +18 Gear Off-Road wheels and 295/70/18 Nitto Ridge Grapplers. Tires did rub the front wheel well, so I just removed it and I may add the shim to the bumper and try to put them back on later.

 

hey all.... love my 6112/5160, +3 cb shackles, 2d 1p CB shims and westcott preload coller (have the never installed westcott shims also).

I moving to an ICON 3.0 coilover and 2.5 omega rear set up due a change in how I am using the Tundra. So I will be listing current setup soon. appx 15k miles on it. So stand by for the FS notice in a few weeks.

 

6112 is out of stock everywhere…

Front at 6112 and rear with CB+2 for me and they seem level, with ur additional spacer and only cb+1 I’d think it would be nose high

 

Very nice. How was the install of the RAS? Did you have cb shackles in the rear?

 

The install was easy. Hardest part was getting the truck blocked up so that the rear axle was free hanging. I am still using the factory leaf springs and shackles.

 

Going back and forth on a couple things and would appreciate input from the group. As soon as I can get my hands on them I will be installing 6112s at the 1.9” setting. I’ve got some 17” Icon Vectors (+25) that I’d really like to go either 295/70 or 285/75. Do you think I’d have issues with clearance on either?

 

I am on +25 18 methods with 295/70 lose the mud flaps and a little heat push to the front liner or a 3/8" to 1/2 " bumper shim... where are you located I have some takeoff 6112/5160 etc.
