I assume you have the JBL system, the reason for using the DSR1? So there should be a harness that plugs to the stock harness then DSR, and then another harness that goes out from the DSR to the AMPs. Not sure I understand where the confusion is or what your challenge is by this description. But I bet someone does.

I just bought a 10.1" Excelon DMX1057XR and I have had a 6.9" Excelon DDX9906XR in for over a year running Hertz door & dash speakers on the OEM JBL, it does not sound bad but I have a Pioneer amp and have been meaning to install it for some time. I want to use the OEM wiring to the speakers but have the JBL nightmare so am installing the DSR1. I am running the RCAs from the Kenwood to the DSR1 as I thought I needed to do to use it.

Maybe I'm more confused than I thought.

Yup, I have the TO whatever harness and it connects up where the JBL amp was, I printed out the pages for my Sequoia and am ready to tackle the install (in the morning, it's 111 at noon) and just wanted to be certain I am clear on figuring out the speaker wire connections to the amp speaker outs since it's so hot I plan to do that wiring with the amp & harness inside.

Ok, I'm going to bow out here, as I'm not sure of your path.

In my 2020 CM, I pulled the JBL amp under the seat which also has the CANbus. Plugged the harness that went to the JBL amp into the DSR and ran RCAs from the DSR to the AMP. The tricky part was the wire out, because the sail panels speaker are inline with the dash speakers. This connection needed to change, so say the right out to speakers drive both the mid sub and tweeter sail panel door, dash speakers are not being used. (Actually, had to rewire the dash harness to bring the right/left dash speakers back, but center is still disabled as it kills the stereo stage).

    Here's what I have:

My plan was to connect the corner dash & front doors to front L&R, back doors to rear.

My confusion is which way is out & in as it seems counterintuitive.

    Thanks

Ok, don't over think. I believe the TO3 kit comes with harnesses for other car applications. Toyota harness to DSR harness, then RCA to AMP and then speaker wire to stock wires.

If you’re using an aftermarket headunit then there’s no need to use it. Use the rcas straight to the amp and buy the wiring connectors that plug into the factory speaker wiring loom.

Agree, the DSR is designed to maintain the JBL head unit.

Well damn, that saves me over 300 bucks & I am sorry Mr. Crutchfield but I guess the DSR1 is coming back.

I have this, TO2 connected to the Pioneer.

Now these go to the corresponding factory amp harness under the seat, RCAs power, remote power on & ground to the Pioneer & I'm done? Wish it were not 111 now.
