I couldn’t get behind the Whipple, sounds too much like Nipple. Among other more scientific reasons.:)

Whipples are great blowers. I've installed and ran a few on my previous builds. I'd expect it to perform well on our platform.

Tempted but I don't see any literature on FFV applications

The FFV issue all comes down to the tuning solution. Prospeed has it figured out from what I gather so I’m sure they could get you set up. Earlier, somewhere in these 95 pages the merits of the Whipple were discussed. It was mostly anecdotal, but my conclusion anyway was that the Whipple doesn’t pack the same torque lower in the RPM range. It seemed to be all top end compared to the others. Do your own research on it though if you’re interested, maybe I have it wrong!

The owner of XAT has one and loves it. Went there a few months back and spoke to him and he swore by it. I believe they also will sell them cheaper than anyone else.

Getting a Magnusson in a couple weeks and having local shop install due to personal time constraints.

Would it be better to get smaller pulley put on at time of install or is this something that can be fairly easily done later?

found a couple options but wondering if anyone has suggestions

Time of install. It is possible to install it without removing anything, but I found that to be a pain in the ass and I was worried I'd strip out the threads on the blower. The next option (which is what I did) is remove the whole nose cone and that makes it a lot easier and feels mechanically safer (ie you can use a press instead of a janky bolt to press the new pulley on, and have more room to work to remove the old pulley). You can pull the nose cone with the blower installed but it is quite a pain in the ass, thus my recommendation of remove the nose cone right off the bat, install new pulley, then install the whole supercharger.

Whatever this forum told me to do
    and..

by going to the smaller pulley 1st, you will save $ on not needing a second tune.

just put the smaller pulley on right out of the gate and get it tuned.

see. the original pulley is nice, but you already know a smaller pulley will fit....it will haunt you and cause you not to sleep well.

get the smaller pulley for your health and well being.

Tune for Magnusson is set for the stock blower setup already. Would have to do additional tuning to get full advantage of smaller pulled for sure but that may take awhile to get to after initial bill for this project….

What elevation do you live at? Good chance the smaller pulley won't boost you above what the stock Magnuson airflow is. For instance I have a smaller pulley but my manifold pressure is still less than a stock Maggie at sea level.

To the point I've been debating dropping size again, since Im still 3-4psi lower than a stock unit at sea level currently.

Seems like it'd make more sense to just move somewhere that's at sea level.

    Humidity
    No cool terrain

Buddy of mine has a 2018 SC'ed (Maggy) tuned by Prospeed and has their new transmission shift kit. Rides on adjustable Kings and ProComp UCAs. 18" Methods. Will sell it to me for 44k. I wasn't planning on getting rid of my truck...

I’d install the bolt on pulley hub before you put it on, and then you can change pulleys later quickly and hassle free.

I am in Dallas so would get benefits of sea level with little less humidity than on the coast

looking at the URD pulley but may need to consider the Prospeed option.

would like some additional boost to keep up with neighbor’s TRX without blowing engine.

I would order that pulley hub combo direct from ZPE. It’ll be much easier trust me lol. Call them and speak to Amanda she’s a nice lady lol.

Agreed on the Griptec. The pulleys are already smaller on the Magnusons, so the griptec will help reduce the belt slip. I’d just buy the one @reywcms posted. Superchargersonline may have a better price as well, worth checking out.

Ok gang. So I’ve been talkin to the old man about IAT temps and we’ve potentially found another culprit. There’s a large gap from where the fender bolts to the body. That gap is open to the fender well area and the intake ports. We think that this is dumping hot engine air into the fenderwell cavity thus sucking hot air. Since I don’t have liners this isn’t much of a problem yet.

But for him we couldn’t figure out how the hell temps would rise so much in such a short distance. Conclusion is that the air in the area is hot from that gap and other things. So pics attached and we’ll see the outcome of the data.

This is a temp solution but I’ll probably make some sort of L shaped metal piece to block this area etc. He’ll be doing testing since he’s got liners. More to come

Is 2.3 the smallest for Magnuson pulley? I'm at 5300ft and go up to 10k feet quite a bit. I know for the Taco they have 3.0 (stock) 2.8, 2.7, 2.5 and smaller

I’m not sure but it’s the smallest I’ve seen. 2 more psi I believe.
