Where is the 400/100 watt inverter located on the TRD Pro?

Should be underneath the center console like all the 3rd gen.

Has anyone tried swapping it for a higher output unit? Would higher output unit require heavy gage wire to outlets in cab and bed. It would be nice to be able to bump the output enough to run hand tools, camping heaters and portable refrigerators.

400 watts is double the output required to charge most power generators and camp accessories. I’m sure there’s warranty issues with modifying the factory invertor. I don’t understand the factory setting that drops from 400 to 100watts when the vehicle is taken out of park. 400 watts is not a LOT of power to maintain. Certainly a larger inverter would offer more options. That’s discounting the fact that it’s a hybrid with a 500 lb battery only option I see so far is to add another inverter. Still researching.

Revere overland did a dual battery setup https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDPiDnKe5k4

Seems pricey but it works. He doesn't go into wire gauges, doesn't mention if the alternator amperage was upgraded. I guess his system is something to look at and amend your plans to suit you.

I have dual battery on my 2nd gen with 200 watt solar and isolator and 200ah lithium. NEVER a power concern. For the new truck I wanted to use a jackery vs the isolator an dual battery setup. jackery pulls 180 watts. Just wanna charge when driving. Again….so far my only option is adding an inverter to avoid warranty issues. I THINK??

Maybe buy a 150W inverter that plugs into the 12V cig lighter outlet until you're out of warranty. That gets you 250W combined with the 100W factory while driving. That's enough to keep laptops charged, maybe keeps rechargeable batteries charged at the same time. The Revere Overland video I posted above, I bet any Yota dealer will tell him they won't even touch it for electrical problems, be it under warranty or out of warranty.

No need for the inverter from the cig lighter for my application. As long as I plug the fridge into the 110 bed outlet it has plenty of power to run the Dometic fridge since it draws approximately 50 watts. It also has the ability to plug it into a cig outlet since it has a built in inverter. My issue is charging the Jackery which draws 180 watts. The jackery will power the fridge for 4 or 5 days without recharge. My desired result would be keeping the jackery plugged in to the trucks inverter…and the fridge plugged into the Jackery. Since the jackery has pass through charging, I would never need to unplug the fridge as long as I kept the Jackery sufficiently charged from the truck. Just trying to simplify plugging-Un plugging since the truck will only provide enough power while IN park and ideling to charge the Jackery. Doing cross country and multiple overland excursions requires the need for either a dual battery or a battery pack like Jackery. As I said previously, I do have portable solar panels but it seems there should be a way to charge a 180 watt appliance WITH A HYBRID

The Jackery can be plugged into the cig lighter as well but that charging method can take 8 or 9 hours vs 4 or 5 hours off the 110 inverter. Again not really an option since the truck has no 12 volt outlet in the bed.

Nice clean install. Was the power supply for your inverter already in the console or did you have to run a lead from the battery or other source?

we put a small AGM batter behind the seat. It runs off of that when I turn on the red switch. That way I can use it when the truck is off. Then the truck charges the AGM when I’m driving.

    Nothing yet, brand new.
What is the largest load/wattage you run on this system? Very interested in this

Making the 3rd Gen Tacoma full time 400W was easy. There was a signal wire from the shifter that told the inverter when the truck was not in Park for the 100W output. This wire was easily disconnected for full time 400W power. Find instructions on YT.

1000 watts and I’ve since replaced it with a Lithium ion.

Pretty sure they were implying that Toyota was going to fix this with the 2024.

    Narrator: "They didn't."

I just dont see a need to do any modification to the truck. It’s too costly vs other options like a power station. Power station can give you portability and lots of power, as much as you need. even easily recharge with solar.
