Has anyone successfully been able to trick the ECM into not throwing any codes in absence of catalytic converters?

I am not subject to emissions testing where I live. I'm going to get some wiring diagrams specific to my truck and try to reason through this myself, but if anyone has any input on this, I'd like to hear from you.

...from what I gather, all that really needs to be accounted for are the o2 sensors. I'm guessing the ecm reads the resistance off these?

I believe it’s looking for a DC voltage between a tight threshold range. I don’t have the FSM in front of me.

It should average around 0.45 volts.

Would that be the difference between the two o2 sensors? ... .45 volts I mean.

No, the upstream sensors are basically a sinewave of 0.1-0.9 volts with a DC offset of 0.45 volts.

The CAT output (downstream sensor) is a diminished copy of the sinewave that is still offset by 0.45 volts and looks more like a DC signal.

Many folks have but I would suggest giving great thought to not messing with a wonderful designed engine. If you're hell bent on it, continue your due diligence given there are many threads out there to feed off of.

The fronts are more important than the rears, so at least consider keeping those....search the net for Air/Fuel ratio sensors for actual function.
The rears are simply for checking the efficiency of the CATs....search for O2 rear simulators.

There are good threads out there but pay attention to what DJ offers in the below thread.
