The reason for the difficulty in screwing the screw in is the powder coat finish on the rails. I personally did not have an issue with them.

Does anyone have experience with either Leer folding tonneau covers, HF350M or HF650M? I’m not sure if they are available yet for the ‘22 Tundra. However I’m curious if anyone has had them on previous trucks and would recommend the covers?

So disappointed for BAK, this is my the worst ordering experience… I ordered x4s a month ago, but they just keep delaying, finally I got the package last week but no hardwares included, not even a installation instruction… I contacted customer service, they opened a ticket and guarantee that the missing kit will be shipped out on 8/17, then delayed to 18, then 19, today I called them but got an answer that there is no materials for hardwares, they don’t even know when it can send out... Is that how businesses are treating consumers now? To cheat them without limit? Do you guys know where I can file a complaint!

You should contact Realtruck; their customer service is second to none! If I'm not mistaken, they are associated with Bak in some fashion.

I think you're right, many are under the same roof in some fashion. When I had an issue with my Bak, the customer service was great, but they could only do so much. They actually told me to contact Realtruck.

Yeah I know Realtruck owns bak, undercover, retrax, roll n lock, truxedo, etc.

which is why I felt silly asking which is better undercover ultra flex or mx4. Don’t matter they’ll make money on either lol

There are some 2022 tundra covers in the Diamondback outlet. I just got a 6.5’ HD for the price of an SE.

I’m about 100% sure that I’m going to get it, but I’m leaning toward the Retrax aluminum models for my 5.5’ bed. How do we get information about that forum discount from RealTruck? Should I contact @SantanaRealtruck directly?

I had an extang solid fold on my 2013 platinum. It blocked a good amount of water but leaked near the tail gate. Over time it obviously got worse being 9 years old. But I always assumed the leaking near the tail gate was because of it allowing the tail gate to be opened and closed without opening the cover.

I am trying to decide which backflip to buy for my 2022 tundra. Does anyone have a specific opinion on the MX4 vs the G2? I know the G2 is older and doesn't allow for the tailgate to close with the cover closed, but part of me wants to believe that that might be better to keep more water out. Thoughts?

Great question! So they actually updated the seals on the G2, both will have the same style of seal at the tailgate. Are you set on a folding cover? While they do a good job, if water resistance is your primary concern, you could consider a hard roll up. The seams are all covered by a vinyl, which will reduce the potential for water to leak at the seams. The X2 and X4s for example, or the Sentry / CT if you move to Truxedo.

Seen a nice aluminum trifold made in Canada.
“Bison”- tonneau cover.. really low profile, and really light and strong.

Thanks for the response. I'm not set on folding, it's just what I know and am used to lol. Because I work with (not for) Toyota I am able to get the OEM Toyota one which I believe is the same as a MX4 for less than buying an MX4 direct from backflip. But the G2 costs less than what I can get the OEM one for. Was just curious on how people felt about them. I like the retrax ones, but not sure if I want to dump that kind of cash on it. Complete water resistance is not necessary, but a good amount of it is preferred.

Anyone have any experience with the roll-n-lock? I'd really like to have crossbars & a cover, which seems like the retractable covers are the best solution. I had a retrax pro installed but I'm getting a LOT of water intrusion (steady streams of water) on the passenger side when parked near level with a slight tilt to the passenger side (which is unfortunately where I usually park everyday in my driveway). I'm now unfortunately exploring if there is another option I can switch to. Luckily the installer has been great in trying to help figure it out and working with me on what to do.

It looks like I would lose the tie down rails with the roll-n-lock, which would be disappointing... but I'm running out of options.

I could look into billie bars, but I'm having trouble finding a cover that would work with them.

I had a roll n lock on my previous truck (Titan). I can't help you out about the crossbars, but I sealed the edges with a bead of caulk and it was watertight! My primary complaints were I hated the strap needed to close, I couldn't keep it lubricated enough to just push open (I needed to really shove it hard to get it all the way open), and the plastic rail caps at the ends of the rails broke in no time.

I put a Retrax Pro on my Tundra and will say it leaked pretty good for the first few days to week and then everything seemed to settle in. I only get a trickle on the edges now when going through a car wash.

I had Retrax pro put on mine also. I have always had Leer 550 fiberglass on mine. But, if this doesn't leak. Think I will like it better.

I've had the undercover flex on my '14 and the Retrax on my '19. It was nice but hated it covered the rear window when open all the way. Warranty on UC was great. The black finish wore thin and started letting water penetrate the actual surface. UC sent me another at no cost. Happened again a yr later. Ended upgrading to the aluminum one. The Retrax was nice but really killed the bed space on the CM short bed. I periodically hauled sheet goods for my cabinet business and once the stack got high enough, everything was shifted out an extra foot or so. Now on my '22 I'm leaning towards a Gator recoil, Bak Revolver, and Truxedo Sentry ct. Really thing the Truxedo cause I like the flat black fabric look. At least until I get a cab high topper.
