Thanks for that , any help would be appreciated , not mechanically inclined so I'm grateful to all the help on here.

Update : spoke to the dealer owner and he said he's going to send over pics of the frame , just waiting now .

This looks like a good buy, if the frame looks good. Nice, other than the two body blemishes. 172k miles is nothing. 1 Owner too.

Maybe this one, no rust on metal things under the hood (other than battery latchdown) probably means limited rust on frame. But last timing belt sticker under the hood shows timing belt was last done 50k/11yr ago, and OEM reco is 90k/9yr, so it's a thing to be aware of:

This one looks nice, under 100k miles, but 2WD only so doesn't quite meet your criteria, and it's a little high priced for that. I'd want to see the frame, and close-up of the paint to make sure it's not a re-spray, the red metallic and green metallic had a penchant for clearcoat peel on hood/roof/splash guards and this has none, meaning I doubt it lived in AZ, or if it did, someone had it repainted or garaged most of the time, or killer job on upkeep:

The second one you linked is the exact truck I'm looking to buy that I posted about lol I'm waiting on the frame picture to assess the rust.

I like the truck overall, it'll need new headlights and based on the brownish color of the radiator, probably a radiator sooner than later also.

One thing I'll say about the white trucks, like the 1st one, like mine. It's not uncommon to have them look faded/chalky. All the non-metallic paint colors from Toyota had no clearcoat, it was single stage paint. A little polishing gets them shiny again. Never need to worry about clearcoat fail.

I'll be curious to see the frame. I'm surprised there's that much rust on the frame, but none up in the engine bay. Maybe it's an east coast salt vs. west coast salt thing.

I'd walk away from it. I lived in Park City, UT for 3 years and they use salt there, especially on mountain passes. I had a 4R which was a southern truck prior to moving there. Spent 3 winters there, got the car washing pass where they did underbody spray and also washed it on my own as well. I would still get rust spots especially on the welds. It wasn't terrible but enough that it bothered me. During my time there, looking at various used cars you can tell the winters took a toll on cars. Now it wasn't Midwest, Rust belt, or NE levels bad but you can still tell.

In those pictures you can tell the frame has been resprayed. Lots of orange peeling and rust areas covered up with paint. Given how susceptible the frames are to corrosion I would walk away and find a nice SoCal, AZ, NV, or NM truck.

Totally. Lipstick on a pig. Piss-poor cover-up job at that, you're dodging a bullet.

This is everything I needed to see. Someone literally spent $10 on rattle-can paint to cover up the rust. You can see the overspray void behind the "owl" here, and - just for the record - I think that support may've been welded in after the owner checked the frame in 2015, I don't have the same support on my rear driver cab mount. It could just be a DC thing, but if people were welding shit onto this frame for support, that's another screaming red flag!:

Walk away. You have better options in your area. If you were here in the northeast, that might be a best option in which case I’d tell you to get out your creeper and ball peen hammer and check it out underneath. If that’s a rubberized coating, stay away. Definitely rusty.

Yep. Pass on that one. Utah is only slightly better for rust than the rust belt. (Unless it was from St George area in Southern Utah its whole life, and still, better still check cause snowy, salty roads are less than an hour away from there in the winter.)

Though that truck looks cleaner than what I usually see for sale in Utah... but 9/10 of the trucks for sale in Utah have been brought in from rust belt auctions.

I'm from Northern Utah originally and relocated to Southern Utah years ago. Guess where I've bought almost all my trucks (Cruisers, 4Runners, Lexuses, Tacomas, and Tundras...) --I buy them from Phoenix area. :D

In fact, guess where I just bought my one- [prior] owner, AZ all its life, always garaged, mostly dealer maintained, nearly full service records, super clean carfax, super clean ZERO rust (yes, really), 125k miles, 2006 1GT DC from last month...? Ahwatukee.

Had my brother in Phoenix go check it out and he called me from the test drive and said he couldn't believe how nice it was and if I was passing, he was buying it cause it was nearly perfect.

Phoenix, Texas, and Georgia seem to be the places to look for clean 4WD Toyotas. Cali too, but you're more likely to pay a premium there, especially for 4WD.

I thought we were gonna jump in to help you look for another truck-? Unless you’re going to go get under it with a screwdriver to poke into all the rusty and painted parts (to see if there’s already holes in the frame), I’d recommend you pass on this one you know about.
