Jittery fog lamps

Any solid solutions to immobilizing that "box" that the fog lamps attach to that then fits into a stock front bumper? After installing the new fog lights and driving with them on last night, I noticed how shaky the beam got over any sort of tiny bump in the road. Can't possibly be good for the lamp's innards.

When installing, I could see how the new lamp assembly fit nice and tight into this "housing" for lack of a better word, with the two "tines" on the one side and screw on the other but the piece that they attach to is anything but tight in its attachment to the bumper.

Best to just shim them with something, black foam maybe, just to push the housing tight one way or the other (up or down seems to be the most movement) against the bumper itself?

I don't have a closeup at the moment but if you push the housing up or down there's a good bit of space that allows the movement of the whole thing.

Same, I removed from the truck and put zip ties to snug up all the play. worked great.

 

X2 on the zip ties…
