I can attest, the dealers in WA state are getting more than 6 trucks for lot sales. I'd say between Rodland and Swickard we're getting at least 10 per month that end up on the front lot. More are orders being delivered.

However, not enough trucks are coming in. Rodland is still at $5495 ADM for anything Limited and below, and they don't last more than a few days on the lot. I have tried in earnest to negotiate with Rodland, they don't budge from $5495. Don't care if you wave cash in their face.....

If you shop SET, production never took off to begin with.

I had just about the same pricing on the one I picked up on monday.

Its a not a crew max, its a black sr5 with the upgrade snow flake wheels, but for the price I thought it was a great buy.

Congrats!!! Some dealers are definitely willing to drop prices to move vehicles that have sat a week or two. Others will just let them sit marked up way above msrp until some dingus comes along.

    True.

The dealer I have normally purchased from low balled me on the 4runner, offered me $38,000. I laughed and said dont insult me. The dealer I bought the 4runner from and this tundra offered me $46,000 thru text message, so I jumped, plus the pricing on this tundra was right so here we are.

Went to look at the Tundra for the first time last night.

Toyota of North Miami had two SR5 XP crew cab models. After markup on both, prices were $79k and $81k. Also had a TRD Pro for almost $120k.

Romeoville Toyota has a $10,000 markup + Xzylon (paint protection) + MSRP for a 1794 that just arrived. just found out as i had my name down on the waitlist as they didn't take DP. when i put my name on the waitlist they only were adding the paint protection now they have the "Chicago market adjustment" added to the truck so we will see if we can negotiate it out but i have a backup plan so we will see

Wow! I paid $71K out the door for my TRD PRO last month. I love it but would never pay that far over MSRP for it.

Finally crossed the border and put a refundable deposit down with Vancouver (WA) Toyota. They are a pretty big dealer that sells at MSRP with no dealer add ons. He let me see what he had coming in for Tacoma's and Tundra's. 27 Tundra's and about 60 Tacoma's. Only 2-3 Tundras that I would be interested in and all were already sold. Going to be a long wait, but thats alright.

Just wanted to put this one out there and highlight a positive sale, bought mine from Lia Toyota in Wilbraham, @ MSRP, respectable trade, no bs in the finance office and matched the warranty/maintenance prices I was able to get through the forum here. Yeah, it took a little while to get my truck, but they didn't play games during the transaction. Id recommend them if you're in the area

Called a couple of dealers for Capstones. One wants 20k on top of sticker and the other wants 13k on top of sticker.

Tundras are the new bitcoin/crypto/Bernie Madoff Ponzi scheme. Woohoo!!

Don't go shopping for a new Porsche 911 Turbo S if you think 20k over MSRP is high...I'm just saying...

The dealer model just has to go. MSRP is already dealer markup on top of the price they paid the manufacturer for the vehicle. Paying $1000s to someone that simply takes the vehicle off the truck, ‘preps it,’ and hands us the keys. Meanwhile the entire paperwork process is trying to upsell stuff you don’t need as they mask other bits of profit in the fees.

    It’s complete BS.

It'll continue until the market corrects itself, if that ever happens. Or, until people just flat out stop paying it. The problem is 90+% of new vehicles sold are impulse purchases, and you don't think rationally when under the influence of an impulse. Personally, I predict it'll be three to five years before things are "back to normal."

‘Normal’ still sucks and these last couple years have just completely exposed the cracks in the system, blown the walls out in fact. It’s time to evolve.

This will be the normal. Why mass manufacture cars when you can create a demand and sell for msrp or more? Covid exposed a new business model.

It’s fine for them now because banks have been authorizing loans with up to 140% loan-to-value. They are gonna lose in that regard. People have $700-1000 car payments with $3000 or less monthly income.

Can’t charge $20k over MSRP if a bank isn’t going to back it.

If $20k over msrp is the normal selling price then the book value of the car will exceed MSRP and the LTV will be fine for the banks. Plus, most manufacturers are using their own financing and they’ll approve it regardless.
