Truck with no storage

So just noticed that this big ol CM truck I purchased really has no storage compartments other than the huge center console. Not a big fan of a tool box in bed as I have a bakflip cover installed and like the sleek look. How are you guys storing your typical stuff, jumper cables, first aid, etc...

Just seems odd they don't really give you much places to put stuff.

 

I bought a heavy duty plastic tote with lid. Both the tonneau and the container are supposed to be water proof. I have a set of tire chains, jumper cables, 12v air compressor, huge tool bag, gloves, and some other random things in there. I just leave it close to the tailgate on one side and lock the tailgate. Its been in there for about 6 months and not a drop of moisture in it. I had to give up my under seat storage for my sub box so i really had no storage. Works great.When we go to the dunes i just throw in my socket set, random spray cans, and propane torch(usually just comes in handy to light fires or the random cigar if somebody forgets a lighter)

 

Simplest thing would be to buy a Double Cab.

 

Looking at their website, I noticed there is also a plastic model that is more affordable than the locking aluminum ones....just fyi

 

I use an Undercover Swing Case, as I have car seats and any under seat storage won't work for me...

Don't hesitate just order the esp storage for back seat. It's amazing, you'll never miss the carpet and foam you hack out.

 

Yeah, came from a 2004 Nissan Titan which had storage in every corner of the truck inside and outside. In 2015 purchased my Platinum Tundra and went to move all the stuff over at the dealership from the Titan and had no where to put it. I currently have 2 totes with lids that have everything in them. Dogs seat covers, tow strap, ratchet straps, jumper cables, etc.... in them. It sucks because they take up a ton of room riding in the back with the seat folded up. Toyota did a great job with storage.

 

The tundras used to have rear door storage pockets too i think. Whoever decided to delete those was freaking brilliant in a special way!

 

How about the center console? You can fit a small family in there

 

My sarcasm sucks...Quite frankly buy a Taco. Lots of storage space in the Taco..or a 2nd gen Tundra or spend big $ on aftermarket storage that Toyota should have put into the 3rd gens. What was Toyota thinking? Oh wait. .

 

I know that 3rd gen doesn't have the behind-rear-seat storage that 2nd gen Tundras used to have. Did they take away all the storage on the doors also?

I personally have two SwingCases. They more than meet my needs.

 

Are the Ammo Can storage any good and worth doing? I have a couple cases of ammo cans i got on a killer deal. lol

The ESP under seat storage is great. I have seen guys basically cut their own holes and use plastic tubs as a cheap alternative. There is also a mod you can do to your back seats so that they will lay down and you can actually access the area behind the seats.

 

I went from '04 Tundra to '09 Titan to '16 Tundra. I really miss the storage in the Titan. Went back to the Tundra because I missed the Toyota reliability. One of my first mods was the ESP storage. I used to carry my Hi-Lift jack and base under the seat of my Titan, along with all my other junk. My fire extinguisher lived in the compartment behind the drivers rear wheel. They all now live in the bed.

 

I would've put that extinguisher at the entrance of the topper. I wouldn't want to crawl up in there if it's filled with smoke and possibly flames.

 

Only for Double Cabs

 

The side windows on my topper open the same way the back window does, so I can access the extinguisher standing next to the truck.

 

I was thinking about this and wonder if anyone's tried replacing their 3rd gen door panels with 2nd gen. Seems to me like it oughta work since Toyota didn't change the doors, and you could conceivably get rear door pockets that way.
