Catalytic Converter Stolen

Wednesday it is then! I hope your dealership is parking it inside until Wednesday. I would hate for it to get hit again! That would suck!

 

Is it parked behind a locked gate..
At first, they said they started the truck every 2 to 3 weeks.
I didn't believe them so I'd go up there once a month and do visitation...

Sure enough, the truck was parked in a different spot every time I checked on it..

I'm either going to take a long drive and run that old gas out or fill it up with premium.
I think the tank is about half full.
I went up there in March and put a can of Seafoam in it, didn't think it would hurt.

I would have put a fuel stabilizer in the tank when I took it in back in November if I'd had ANY inclination it would be there for 8 months..
They told me 6 to 8 weeks when I dropped it off, and it has been 34 weeks....

 

I’m confident that a Tundra will happily burn whatever gas is in the tank. Running it to “zero miles range” low before filling it up is exactly what I’d do as well.

 

There were comments about the gasoline turning into varnish if sitting too long a few months ago.
No idea if that has any merit.

I asked my service guy and of course, he didn't seem too concerned with it..

 

I wouldn't worry about two months. I have vehicles that sit for up to six months with the same gas and have never had any problems.

 

It'll be just fine. The risk is water separation when stored too long. Simply fill the tank right away then drive that tank as low as you dare before the next fillup. I have seven vehicles and some are stored guide some long times. Fuel has never given me issues. Batteries and tires would be what causes issues and my attention.

Dealer is giving me a new OEM battery, I told them I want my Interstate back as well.
Kinda concerned about the tires too, they were only a year old..

They are putting on a new OEM muffler since my 10" BAM got cut.
Going to send it back to @dirtydeeds and have Keith make me a 12".

 

Your tires may have flat spots from being parked so long. Ask the dealer to inflate them to maximum sidewall pressure and drive it to the gas station for fuel. Drive it at max pressure for a week. The ride will be rougher than you are used to but it will help the carcass return to its original shape quicker. After that week you can return to your normal pressures. Your tires will be perfectly fine. The rubber is still young. That's good.

Look at your rotors to see how much surface rust is on them. If they are a slight rust color you'll be ok with normal driving. On the other hand, if the surface rust is heavy simply apply a little brake pressure at speed for a few seconds at a time to allow your brake pads to scrub them back down to fresh metal.

Do a quick visual on all fluids kind of like your pretrip. Frankly, I'm not concerned about it being parked for eight months. Just some normal checks so you can head off problems should they arise.

O & A was my favorite, followed them right up to Ant's firing. I never signed up for the compound, even though they weren't friends, the show dynamic was great and it worked ! The cast of comedians added to the hilarity, not to mention Martini Steve, Bobo, Steve from Yellowstone, Patrice ... Man what a run they had.... On road trips to Florida, I'd listen to the am show from 6 to 10 and then listen to the replay after Ron & Fez . Couldn't get enough of them two.

 

Well for peace of mind my next purchase will have to be some type of shield. What's the opinion on steel vs aluminum?

 

Steel is heavy. My payload might go negative with nothing else in the truck.

 

Just got word that my local dealership had 2 Tundra's on the lot 1 was sold and needed to be prepped the other was not sold. Wednesday night the cats got cut out of the only 2 Tundra's on the lot. The A Holes tore up the one that was sold, cut out wires and gas line. Mine is due any day now and today I purchased a plate.

 

Hopefully my cats will be in soon based on what I have read. Just placed an order for my cat plates, security bolts and bolt head protectors..... F'n A_HOLES!!!!

 

I took my truck home to avoid all of this. I keep it parked in the garage and evey couple of weeks drive on the back roads.

 

I live in the midwest where once the salt goes down on the road for the winter its pretty much there until spring. For that reason I went with the 1/4 inch aluminum and had it powder coated in an aluminum color along with my RCI front skid (bought before vahalla had a aluminum front skid option). Steel is better if you are wheeling seriously over rocks as it should technically hold up a little better to bumps and slide off rocks better. Just depends on your usage. I don't do much more than some logging roads up in northern Wisconsin and some job sites here where I live. That being said, these 1/4 aluminum plates are strong and I'm sure they would take some abuse.

 

I went with aluminum for the lighter weight.

 

I bought the Valhalla cat shields and security bolts. The od of the bolt head key is 1.12. Were is everyone finding bolt head protectors that big?

I was killing time doing a Build/Price for a Tacoma and noticed that Toyota is offering a Cat Shield Accessory
Double that price for the Tundra Cat Shield.

 

They only cover the front, but I do like the bolts used to secure the plate.

 

They have a "rear wing add-on" that protects "all four cats"

 

Ah, I see it now, very similar to the Cat Security Cat Shields

 

I got my tracking info from Tyler for my front and rear plates! I'm stoked! Comes in Monday 25th and I leave on vacation with the truck Wednesday 27th so I'll have to get these thrown on soon! Does Valhalla sell the security bolts too or is there another vendor folks are using?!

 

Where was your truck when they took your cats?
