I finished installing the AJT blackout kit and everything looks great, but the 4x4 knob has no tension or spring back. A bump in the road could make it shift into 4HI, and the push to get to 4LO has no spring back. I tried prying two little contacts that move along the circuit board to see if that would help, which it did ever so slightly but still loose as can be. I’ve triple checked every video and searched forum posts without an answer yet. Is there a spring in the assembly that I might’ve lost?

It seems like you forgot to put the two tiny springs and a tiny plastic that goes on top of each spring and compresses it.
Also there is a video , but it’s not from AJT.

The AJT instructional video didn’t show any springs other than those 2 contact springs that drag along the circuit board to tell it which position the switch is in. I did not see any additional springs when disassembling it and none of the videos I’ve watched show any other springs. Can you describe the springs you mentioned with a little more detail? I didn’t damage anything either.

Kinda hard for me to explain , Ill do my best to explain, when you put it back together and when you push it to 4L you should have tension. If you don't have tension then you are missing the two spring and spacers.
If I have time this weekend I will try to disassemble and take a pic. Sorry I couldn’t be more thorough.

I've replaced a few of these on 2.5 gens and didn't encounter springs or a spacer on the 4x4 knob, nor can I see them mentioned on the few install videos I found.

I'd take it apart and see if you got everything seated correctly.

@19TurdPro (great name btw) I’ve taken it apart and put it together about 10 times now. I could probably outperform the robot that assembles them now.

@TBS thank you! Think that could be it. No idea if I’ll be able to find them but I’ll definitely try.
