I was able to get the skids off and service everything without even lifting the sxs and I’m closer to 300lb than 200.

So, final bit of business with that dealership is resolved. They agreed to toss in the new grille because they hadn't even known it needed it and that they'd touch up the bumper damage. Well, I got the grille, but that was it. They did nothing with the bumper, so I loaded my machine and told them I wouldn't be back for anything service related. Here's some pics. Fair warning, I'm being picky and bitching.

Strange grease/oil mess in the bed of my RZR, so who knows what they spilled or why.




This is the wire harness for the winch control input. They just left it hanging, and the little bit of pink you can see is the connector in the middle of it. This gives enough weight for it to swing all around, cuz who cares about metal fatigue on copper wiring, right?




This is the marring above the front camera mounting hole. Don't know if that's from the bumper being bashed on it or the grille they tried to force in, but it pisses me off either way. If I had a front camera I'd almost bet money they would have damaged it.




This is actually the first damage I saw, and what prompted me to check the whole thing over. The pic doesn't show it very well, but it almost looks like somebody took a file or a rasp to it. My guess is it got banged into a metal shop table's edge. It's quite deep.




This is the other side of the bumper. Not as bad, but still down to the metal.




These two top side of the bumper looks like it was driving down a gravel road behind a rock chucking truck. Not all the way to the metal on all of them, but still sad for a $400+ bumper.




The lower bars that come down and mount in the center of the machine look like they were set on the shop floor and then slid a bit.




Of course all of this damage was blamed on Polaris or the delivery company, but how do you explain this bit? It's right between the two bars pictured above and completely shielded from any kind of shipping damage. Looks like tool marks from when they installed the two bolts shown above.




I updated the google review to reflect the poor follow through and I emailed Polaris directly. All they would have had to do was repaint the damaged bits and they'd have had a 4 star review and a customer happy enough to not complain. I hate that the automatic response to a complaint is "if we give you free stuff will you be quiet?" It's akin to offering a child a sucker to stop crying, rather than checking to see why they are upset.


Still, glad I bought the bumper and winch. I mean, at a distance it looks pretty good. I just should have installed it myself.



Surprisingly, Polaris was quick to respond, but it wasn't really anything great. Basically, paraphrased "dealers are independently owned and we can't control who they hire or their level of training." They offered a $300 voucher for parts/gear.

Without rewriting the email, I referenced Ford stepping in to correct dealers on the Lightning shenanigans, told them they do have the ability to compel dealers to do better, and that I'm not looking for a handout. I've asked what steps their "Dealer Improvement Team" plans to take, and if they have any kind of SOPs for installs and the like. Is a hanging wire harness really ok?

This polaris shop is the only powersports dealer/shop in the area I went to. Talking to locals, there are people going over a hundred miles to buy and service their machines, or buy competitors because this is the norm. I'm trying to draw attention to if for Polaris so they can remedy it, because it's not doing the brand any favors.

 

Question for you guys that have installed winches and the like for these machines. Do I need to put no-ox on the wire connection points of the winch? They were totally dry/bare from the dealer install, but I would prefer to get info from actual owners.

 

I'm not going to say the dealer is blameless in all of this but considering the shape the packing of the Polaris snowplow I bought was in when it was delivered I can see a lot of that coming form shipping damage. The plow was basically wrapped in a cardboard sleeve and shoved in a box, with the hardware taped in. By the time I got it the box looked like it had flipped down a flight of stairs end over end. When I mentioned it to the parts guy he pretty much said they package stuff like shit.

On the connections, exposed yeah they should be sprayed with something. Fluid Film works well.

 

I'm sure some of it could be the shipping. They have the option to refuse damaged package, or letting the customer know before installing it to see if they even want it. Instead they threw it on half-assed and hoped it wouldnt get noticed.

Even with that, the piss off thing is the new marring on my machine and the fact that they said they'd touch it up and didn't. I'm not unreasonable, and I'm very accommodating if I'm kept in the loop. I know that things happen, and I don't blame them for that. I do blame them for lazy work and not doing what they say they will.

 

Picking this little guy up for my little dude next week. He’s about to turn 12, hope he digs it. Only one I could find was in AZ, so we’re headed down for Labor Day weekend to pick it up and party/ride in Havasu! 2022 RZR 200

Had to bootleg in a roof so he has cover from that Arizona sun though. Should be there Wednesday for the dealer to install. Gonna be a hell of a Labor Day for everyone involved haha. Just hope we can find a hotel on Labor Day weekend near Havasu good luck, I know!

Got a new front diff from Sandcraft in Arizona. Ours decided to detonate at the beginning of August, and due to supply issues they couldn't get a new replacement housing so last week we went ahead and bought a brand new unit which they built out with a bunch of strength upgrades. Got it all back together yesterday and went for a spin today! The wife planned out a trip to some hot springs which were over 100 miles away, so we ended up doing 200+ miles of dirt and decided to short cut on the way home so hopped on the highway. Longest single trip we've ever done but the ham seems to be working like a charm just in time for fall, and we finally have a fully functional front locker!

 

That's badass!

Kinda looking forward to elk season so I can get the RZR out on some trails. Not going to be fast, but it'll be nice to be behind the wheel instead of a desk. Probably be one of the last trips before snow flies around here. Your season is just starting to pick up, isn't it?

 

So, how did this thing turn out?

 

Yea, and in less than an hour I can be from 2000ft to 12000ft. At the house (5500ft) it's in the 80s, down the hill it's still in the 90s though. As winter comes we just go to lower elevation. Next few months will be prime time though.

It turned out amazing. Awesome family trip to Havasu and the kiddo had what he refers to as “the best birthday ever”! Now for the pics…




I can also report the VRBO we stayed in Lake Havasu, was 100% as advertised…I was nervous because it was our first time. But for the 5 days we were down there we would have had to switch hotels 2 times and they were over $350 a night. Very pleased with the VRBO setup. Was able to unload the machines and use their 3 car garage to keep the machines safe at night and not on the trailer in a hotel parking lot. Well worth $250 a night…

That sounds like a damn epic trip! Glad the little dude got to enjoy the ride in his own rig as well! How did it perform? Did it dog out on hills or anything? IDK how much scoot a 200 has.

 

It holds its own for sure, more than he needs for a bit. Thankfully it has “turtle mode” which just means I log into the Polaris app, hit the garage icon, and I can geofence him to an area, limit the speed (it goes about 30 top speed) but even in turtle mode, it still knows when it needs more power and will get your butt up the hill. It’s hard to explain, but it will keep you under the set speed limit and still send power to the wheels to get you up. We went to the mountains this weekend here in Colorado to our usual spot, and it hauled my 200 lb ass everywhere we went with him behind the wheel. Not a single issue to report. Speed was limited to 15 mph until he gets used to it. He’s special needs but very mechanical, and extremely detail oriented so he’s picking it up very, very quick.

 

Way cool! Appreciate the info, as I have buddies and siblings with kids that my get a kick out of something like this.

 

My Ranger is like that, without the seatbelt on. Full power to 15, then it dogs it back to keep speed. Very cool little feature, especially for the young ones. And for the older dumb ones. Glad you guys had a great trip!!

 

Quick question….. I need to add a chase light bar and lighted whips to the X3. I have seen online the “pig tail” wiring harnesses that tap into the rear taillights. Do you still need to run a switch for the chase bar and whips or does the pig tail just make the connection always on/ hot whenever the X3 is running?

 

If it ties into the stock wiring I doubt there is a switch. Just on whenever the running lights are on.

 

Spent the weekend near Green River UT and met up with my folks. Very cool and hidden area, away from the Moab crowds. It stormed every day we were there which was cool and changed up the desert a bit. Saw some flash floods, explored an old ICBM launch complex, and did a lot of trails and some rock crawling and sand dunes.

Tore a rear axle boot on my Talon, pulled it and replaced boot all was good after a couple shake down runs in the neighborhood. Went to move it and decided to bust a block in the neighborhood and felt a bad vibration and knocking sound, cap came off of front u-joint on driveshaft. So pull front bumper, winch, and 50 million push pin clips so when the driveshaft comes in Monday I can unbolt the front diff and slide out the old one to replace with the new. I'll have caps on the u-joints tack welded on the new OEM driveshaft before installing it.

 

Just rolled into Hurricane today. Going to hit up Sand Hollow before the UTV Takeover. Any other trails over here you recommend?
