SR5 DC 4x4 stock. No packages or adds except factory spray in bed liner & all weather floor mats. Paid MSRP - $46,198 + fee's = $51K otd. I had to pay a little bit extra in fee's as I bought it in Az and brought it back to CA. I'll take that over the ridiculousness these CA stealerships are trying to get away with any day. No adumdums for me!

Yes and no. I sold my daily driver back in January, and have been using my father's spare car (Chevy SS) since. I think it's somewhat presumptive to say that I don't need this car. Perhaps I don't need this specific truck, but I think there's an opportunity cost for me to wait until the exact car I want with no accessories comes in. I also think you're operating under the false assemption that some of these trucks don't have the ridiculous accessory packages. Most people I talk to here ended up paying for something they didn't want.

I think it was a TFL truck video they said much of the interior work comes from Lexus in Japan. My sister has those seats (less colorful) in her 2022 GX460 and the leather is way better than my land rover lux.

Sales reached out to me on Reddit and said they had a solar octane available so I asked how much just in case.

at least they’re honest on what the markup name is

I am curious if the leather is actually different than the Platinum/1794. I have had multiple leather seat vehicles in the past, and these are by far the best leather seats I have ever had. It honestly makes me think all my other leather seats were fake (which is actually probably the case). If the capstone are better than these, I'd be impressed.

thats the problem with dealing with either GST or SET regions. they add this crap at the regional port and since they dont have to follow toyota usa rules, they can get away with this.

$500 for tint lol and chances are you'll have to re-tint to get it darker.

$15k for profit and another $1100 pre-delivery svc charge o_O

Wow, to get something with similar options it would cost me 2x more than what I paid for my 2016, used with 32k miles. Payments on a $60k vehicle are not in my future anytime soon....I hope!

I was forced into the new car market due to an accident earlier in the year totaling my truck. We have looked at Toyota dealerships across southeast Louisiana and southwest Mississippi. We found that if you did not want a 4x4 the trucks were easier to come by and there was more room for negotiations. If you did want a 4x4 you had to put a deposit down and get on a list, the dealership would call you when they received their allocation and run down what was available.

The few times that I was able to find a truck at a dealership that was not sold prior to its arrival the mark up was as high as 7000.00 and they were not moving off it. There was one dealership in New Orleans that stated mark up was 5000.00 but depending on circumstances they could go to 2000 above or MSRP. The best above MSRP deal that was available was 1800.00 above with an additional warranty included.

Depending on what warranty that was, it might be worth the MA... I'm firmly against them, and went with a dealer that doesn't charge them... But if the warranty they offered was the 10yr/100k or one of the 125k ones, then that price would be considered...

    Went through Costco

MSRP on my '22 SR5 Dbl Cab with Premium Off Road Package and other add ons (spray in bedliner, heated seats, towing stuff, heated steering wheel, premium audio etc.) was $55,430 and because I came to the stealership via Costco, they knocked $500 off so I paid $54,930 plus the extended warranty and licensing costs.

18 years ago when I bought my '04 through Costco they offered me $1,500 below INVOICE price and 0% financing, but that was a different era. I was pretty happy to get 1K below MSRP given the stories of gouging and 'market price adjustments' I am hearing everywhere for any kind of car these days.

    Always go through Costco.

*Edited to revise the numbers for accuracy

What dealer in OR did you go through?? I tried Costco a few times and it spits me to Royal Moore I think. They are way above MSRP...

Edit: Tested again and got Royal Moore...

I started my process several months ago (my initial offer sheet from them is dated 3/22) so things have possibly changed.

Also edit, now that I look at the offer sheet I see that they only knocked $500 off of MSRP not $1,000. I think I was trying to get them to go to $1,000 which is why I have it in my head. Still $500 under MSRP in this sellers climate was good.

Ah, gotcha! $500 is for sure better than nothing! Lithia was quite a bit over MSRP the last time I chatted with them. Every time I try Costco Auto I just get the same dealership out in Hillsboro..

I just purchased mine on Monday. I purchased my wife’s GR86 in January from the same dealer. Manager appreciated the repeat business and waived the $8k market adjustment. I paid $60,349. I saw another dealer with sticker at $55k but bumped to $76k with market adjustment!

its standard where the plat and 1794 its an option and the automatic running boards are mandatory add on that are tied to the hud option.

personally i wont get the hud since the auto boards are useless and the avs suspension is a complexity i dont need in the long term since they always go bad after 5-10 yrs.

I didn't mean to come across as angry with your comments. Had just been a day...

I need a vehicle that's better suited to my family. I love the SS but it's not exactly a great family vehicle with the amount of stuff that I need to haul around. The opportunity cost of waiting is the time spent with a vehicle that's a total pain in the ass (even if it is a fun, Australian M5, pain in the ass). Are there plenty of people out there raising kids in smaller cars than a SS? Of course.

As far as it being a depreciating asset, show me a vehicle you can buy that's not going to depreciate. Almost all of them will depreciate faster than a Tundra... Or, show me a vehicle that fits my needs that I can get under MSRP. I'm paying cash, not paying markups and buying the longest extended warranty I can. For all I care, my family can bury me in this truck. As a result, whether or not it's a depreciating asset doesn't matter to me right now. I think I can drive it for a decade or more and still probably recoup half or more of my investment. That's an investment I'll take.

I can appreciate what you're saying. I'm normally pretty frugal and level headed (CPA & CFP). However, at some point you have to bite the bullet. Even you alluded to paying for packages or stuff you don't want. I'd really be surprised if very many trucks are leaving the ports without any options. It's also worth mentioning that when I build a similar Ford or GM, it's $5-10k more.

For whatever it's worth, I'm not paying a markup. Just $1600 worth of gun safes and dashboard cams. I'm also flying and buying to save money over paying a dealer markup? Is it the same thing? Practically speaking, yes.

Can you justify any financial decision? Of course. It's why ARMs, leases, credit cards exist. What I'm trying to say is this: As long as I'm trying to buy a vehicle in the status quo, I'm not getting out of this unscathed. Pick the mode by which you'd preferred to get screwed and roll with it.

My local dealer aside from being awful to deal with also wanted a 12k markup so looked around and found a dealer about an hour away that had a Supersonic Red Platinum L 6.5ft bed at MSRP that wasn't claimed yet "late April" and after all the accessories ext warranty taxes ect it's coming out to around 88k CAD befor trade in. But still waiting and got an update today that it's still showing in production on their systems and the wait is getting to me lol. Didn't help I saw basically the exact same truck with a short bed a few weeks ago and the colour is fairly similar to my 2014 Camaro

Inquired locally here in SATX about a TRD pro they just put on their site. Bad news is it sold for 100k, good news is I know where I'm going if I wanna sell my TRD pro I'm picking up in AZ. They have a capstone for 109k too.
