Wind noise coming from passenger side dash area

Just traded for a 2017 Tundra 1794. I have a wind noise coming from the passenger side dash area when traveling above 35 mph. I checked the cabin filter to make sure it was there and properly fitted. It sounds like there is an open hole somewhere in or near the glove box area. I've tried folding mirrors in, taking antenna off etc, but it is very annoying. Anyone else experience this issue and have any suggestions?

No, just wind sound like there is a hole not sealed somewhere. I adjusted the hood stops down. It looked like passenger side was much higher than drivers side. This seems to have helped quite a bit. Hard to tell because it's raining and roads are wet, but I think it's an improvement.

I did notice the weatherstrip around the window on that side is a little loose. I will have dealer take a look at that too.

 

one thing you may try is turning the climate system to circulate. That will eliminate air coming into the cab from outside through the vents. It may not solve your issue, but it's any easy thing to rule out

 

Well, thought I had it solved. Guess I'll have dealer take a look soon.

 

Did u check the firewall from the engine to under the glove box where the electrical wires are? Maybe there's a hole there

 

Most likely the weatherstrip on windshield needs to be replaced.

 

Sounds like a dying whale..same here..is on the passenger windshield molding..rd have to curve to the left as you go into the turn and have to be a little windy outside..and there's a cross wind..is much louder at 75 mph..enough to put a skii Mark on your tidy whities if your not expecting it..

 

I have the same thing going on.. sounds like I didnt roll up all the windows enough. Let us know what you find out from the dealer.

 

That's exactly what it sounds like. Like there is a hole somewhere right where top of dash meets window.

 

Took it in today and had mechanic ride with me a bit. He thinks the front windshield didn't get set properly so they are going to reinstall the windshield and put on new weather stripping all around. Hopefully, this will stop that wind noise.

 

Mine has been at the dealer since Monday. Completed the bumper recall and 3rd time in for wind noise. Finally got them to agree that the passenger door didn't fit correctly around the roof line and down the front pillar. The dealer opened a case with Toyota for repair advise.

 

Wow, hope mine isn't that bad. That sounds like a lot to fix. What year is your truck? Mine was built in March of 2017.

 

Mine is a 2017 built in NOV. 2016. Still waiting to hear back from Toyota. Nothing noticeable to the eye but door defiantly doesn't fit up tight to the roof line or front pillar when compared to diver's door.

Waiting on truck now. They said the front windshield was not even glued down on the passenger side. Not a sign of adhesive/epoxy on the entire right side of windshield. Almost like the robot that installed the windshield ran out of the adhesive on the passenger side. They called a windshield repair shop and are resetting the windshield. Kinda worrisome that this could get by quality control.

 

just a tip...not sure it's been said before, but my wind noise from passenger side definitely comes from the antenna. removed the antenna, no more noise.

 

Yea that was happening to me when I was driving home from Utah a few weeks ago.. I thought my window wasn't rolled all the way up so rolled it up n down, then moved mirrors around didn't help..'it was when I was going 75mph plus... I dont know what happened but it just stopped

 

Mine is all fixed. Nice and quiet now. Truck is perfect!

 

What did they fix?

 

They had to reset the front windshield.

 

any luck, I recently purchase a 2017 Toyota Tundra and I am having the problem now.

 

Mine still does it , for some reason. It only does it on the highway going in and out of town. Never in the city. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

 

I see , and I guess their nothing we can do about it. I try calling Toyota and see if their was any recall , but no luck

 

I had a video of it so Toyota could hear it and they’d aid they didn’t know what to do.

 

Maybe this is why these trucks have such a noisy interior.

Nowhere near as quiet as my 4Runners were/are.

Figured it was just poor build quality, and even less aerodynamic shape.

Maybe it's half installed windshields, and poor door sealing.

Though with both issues, why don't we see any water intrusion, especially when driving in rain storms?
