The plates sharp edges cut him to shreds. They valiantly tried to save him but to no avail. Oh, well, blood is hosed off and time to get busy with the install.

Sounds like they're already good at protecting. Hopefully the same will happen to anyone who climbs under your truck.

I just installed the Taco Tunes cat shield. It came quickly (1 week) and was easy to install. One item was that the if you have a TRD skid plate you may need another person to tighten the security screws/socket (which is why I included the screenshot of someone installing it with a skid plate. Honestly this brings me so much piece of mind.

At least it provides some protection but don’t understand why folks are going with plates that leave the rear 2 cats exposed. A thief can care less if they are not the main cats but will still cut them out.

No. My local mechanic sells the one I have. His son makes them. 1/4" aluminum. One piece.

Easy install, but I’m about a burrito away from being stuck under the truck.

I currently have the Add-a-Cat that came on my Tundra I just bought two weeks ago, but it only covers the front two, leaving the rears exposed.

Do you mind sharing a photo of the one your mechanic shop makes that covers all four and their information as I am interested in purchasing a shield to cover all four. I am near Spring, TX.

    Thanks,

You should look at the Valhalla Rear plate to see if it can be mated with your existing one. Then all 4 will be covered.

I have had way to many burrito's to get under the truck and do any work. I put it in 4LO and drove it up on some wood blocks I use to park the Jeep on when I am power washing it. Pretty easy install. I have a 3/8 Milwaukee impact that REALLY helps. What a game changer it is...
Plates look great but now I want the matching engine skid.... I pre soaked the exhaust bolts in preparation for my Dirty Deeds exhaust. I may have to drop the rear plate to get at exhaust bolts on the passenger side but that will be pretty easy.

Sure thing. I believe I posted it up in the Texas forum (if you don't ever check it out you should) but here is what I have on the Sequoia. My Tundra doesn't have cats so no shield there.

Thanks. Yeah I'm very happy with it. It's thick enough to function as a skid plate too.

I like the one piece construction.

    Thanks for the contact information.

I contacted them and have an appointment to install the full length shield this Friday. I considered trying to add the rear shield from other vendors but don't want to deal trying to make it work with the existing front shield, and would rather start fresh with a full length shield and the one piece that covers all four. Also good to have a Toyota specialist/mechanic where I can take my Tundra and other Toyota cars for service.

I'd give them a call to inquire about shipping.

It was great speaking with Mark this morning. We talked about his shield options and I also appreciated his guidance on the best shield he carries for my truck. I am looking forward to getting the one piece installed and have piece of mind, even though I know it's just a deterrent.

    Best of luck.

Just installed the Talons Garage front and back shields today. What a clown show. I'm one of those guys that really needs to just pay someone. A reasonably intelligent, organized and cable mechanic with the proper tools could probably do this in under an hour. It took me much longer :anonymous: I'll spare everyone the details.

Ordered and shipped the same day but UPS had some kind of problem so delivery took about a week. First impression was 1/4" is a really solid piece of aluminum. Total weight for both sheilds is about 40-45 lbs. I purchased the security bolts and have to believe these plates would be a real bitch to remove.

After install, I'm not sure I would order the back plate if I could redo. The front plate totally covers the front of the back cats and it looks like it would be difficult to get a saw blade in front of the rear hanger on the back cats.

    I need a beer.
