Bed Bounce Fix?

I run I25 through Castle Rock daily and I agree with you. There’s speeds north of 80 that seem to quiet it down as well.

 

I swapped out my 5160 (rear shocks) for 2.0 fox r/r tuned by accutune. So far it seems to have reduced the bounce even with no weight in the bed (other than my topper). Ill check back when i have more road time. Im also waiting on 2.5 fronts with 500lb coils.
Stats for completeness:
18 crewmax sr5 (5.5 bed)
E load bfg ko2 (285 75 17)
6112 @ 1.9 + 1/4” shim on both sides
1.25” shackles with poly bushings (bossoffroad?)
Snugtop rebel

Upcoming:
Front shocks / coils
New tires. Considering toyo at3 (maybe c load? Havent decided)

 

That stretch is the worst I've encountered. But since the weather has warmed up, it's almost unnoticeable.

 

When I bolted on my P&P Engineering sliders they eliminated a good part of my bounce/kick.

 

Adding substantial weight under the cab or to the bed will dampen it quite a bit.

 

Does anyone make electronically adjustable rear shocks for our Tundras?

Wonder if we may be able to tune the bounce out with different shock valving to match the road conditions.?

 

Anything that limits flame flex right behind the cab will help. Sliders makes total sense. You’re forcing the cycling action to stay in the springs more

 

I got my 2012 Tundra CrewMax last August and it suffers from bed bounce, even with a LEER topper, Thule crossbars and large RhinoRack X Basket, and about 100 lbs of gear in the bed.

I spent time really looking into this and seeing what others tried. Googling part numbers I discovered my shocks and struts are from Autozone.

I ordered and installed Rancho RS9000XLs in the rear, and essentially the same for the front with Rancho quick lift struts. My truck has spacers front and rear and 35/12.50/20s on the factory BBS wheel package.

I’ve only installed the rear shocks so far. Set to 1, nice cushy ride that eliminated 90% of the bounce on Colorado concrete freeways.

I think greasable or pivoting/softer rear shackles would likely take care of the rest.

I have never seen someone share the Rancho solution, so I thought I would bring this back from the dead.

 

That's weird because the black shocks have very little damping. Turn your Ranchos up the max and see what happens.

It was bed bounce times 100. It was physically uncomfortable, not just the annoyance it used to be. I can’t stress enough how bad it was

And when you say black shocks, you mean the Autozone shocks? Because that is what was on my truck when I bought it

 

My truck was insane on I25 south... this was right after I bought it, and heading home to NM! It was way beyond uncomfortable. It was like constant whiplash. I've notice it in ABQ but not nearly as bad... both with the black shocks and the IM FCPs. I think the longbed makes it worse.

 

I ride 285, 470, and 6th Ave mainly. Then I25 and I70. 285 has been the worst…
