Anyone here that could source the hkb diode fuse from Australia without going through them? Seems like they're not taking any orders until the end of the year cause of COVID or some sort.

Odysseys are my favorite. Over the years Ive run several brands. Used to run 6 in my 18 wheeler. From Montana to Wyoming down to Arizona and California. They took a licking.

Update: After 2 months changing to the GM diode, have no issues so far. I monitor the truck when it sit in the driveway voltage reads at 12.8, whenever I start the truck the voltage went up to 14.5 then drops to 13.8-14.2 after I drive the truck around.

I was nervous to install the diode and did some researching. Decided to buy the optima 400 charger. Mine is a daily driver and I don’t have a ton of electrical components to worry about but occasionally will need to use the outlets while camping and such. So I will just use the optima charger overnight while it sits on days where I know I will be using it. Might increase the lifespan, might not.

FYI - for anyone interested, advance auto parts excludes any coupons and such from the purchase of this charger. But if you order from autozone you get 20% off anything over $100 so this cost just over $100 for me shipped. Use code MAYSAVINGS

I had one of those on my first tacoma for about 4 years, then when I traded in for my second tacoma I swapped it out and ran it on my second tacoma another year. I should have swapped it out and ran it on my Tundra as well.

If it brings the cells to saturation without zealously overcharging then you will definitely get more runtime as opposed to never saturating the cells.

I looked at the Odyssey but decided it was too pricey. Ended up with a Diehard 24F AGM for under $200. Works great. Bought the diode and fuse holders but haven’t used them. Also get one of Coupe’s adjustable battery holders

If it's an AGM, throw the diode in. If not, there's no need.

I had a trickle charger for my AGM X2 but after having to plug it in all the time I ended up getting the HKB. Had it in since March. Got around 14.5 to 14.6 at start up. I took it out a couple of weeks ago because I went to Toyota to check my AC. Didn't want to void the warranty. The fuse HKB ended up in a bag with a cup of liquid (wasn't me). Spilled all over the fuse. Is this fuse salvageable or do I get a new one?, getting around 14.2 st startup now.

Fuse should be good with some cleaning...just make sure it's dry before you throw it back in...HKB does a good job at making these last with the epoxy they use. Meant to withstand heat/cold and moisture...

That's what I was hoping. I put it back in last night so I'll see how it goes today. Hoping to see 14.4-14.7. I may need to test the alternator voltage to see.

You were correct. Cleaned it up with some alcohol wipes and let it dry. Next day put it back in and got 14.7 at start up. So, just to let everyone know, if you get that fuse wet, it's still salvageable. Been driving around for a few days and still seems to be working. Was sweating have to maybe buy another one at the price. LOL

When voltage is ~14.5v then it’s in a charging stage.
When voltage is ~14v then it’s in float stage, meaning the battery is fully charged and it’s just topping it off.

Is there a down side of putting the diode in when you're not running an AGM battery? I have radio gear that runs 24/7 and the extra voltage would make sure the battery doesn't run down as quickly when the truck isn't driven daily.

Yes. You would be overcharging and risk damaging the battery.

My fuse box looks different than those that have been posted. My tundra is a 2015 Pro. Is there a way to be sure that I have the diode orientation correct?847EAB96-8262-4DCA-84E2-B63D4594CF32.jpg

If you install the diode backwards you'll get a battery indicator light on your dashboard. If you do just flip it around and reinstall in the other direction.
