Hi guys, first post here. So to start off I bought my 06 tundra about a month ago and I love it. Probably my favorite truck so far. I sold my 21 Tacoma dclb for this. I had a 19 power stroke previously and for some reason this truck just hits the spot.
But anyways I have the typical rust issues around the front leaf spring bracket. The frame is doubled up in that area and the actual frame seems to be good but the inner part it rusted out. Hopefully everyone knows the part I’m talking about . I can’t seem to find just that part. I have searched like crazy with no luck. Hopefully someone knows a part number.
I plan on keeping this truck for awhile. It has 70,000 miles and everything else is like mint condition (besides cv axles). I just want to get ahead of everything before it’s to late. Any help would be appreciated.

Picture would really help. From what you're describing with words, I don't think it's something you can buy separately.

The front leaf spring bracket is bolted though it. I was thinking maybe cut out the bad parts of it and maybe do a 3x5 3/8” angle it there but I don’t want to half ass it either

We've had a couple of posters that have posted about fillers one can buy but striking out in finding past posts.

Hard to tell from those pics but in case it helps others, is your issue where the red rectangles are ?

Yes, those look to be about where my problems are. The more I’m thinking about it, I think angle iron would be the way to go. I think it would be stronger, last longer and be easier. Cut out the real bad parts and por-15 the best I can

Ahh yes the last link he made his own ( frame stiffeners) that’s what I need. Looks like the only option it to make your own. Like you said before I don’t think you can buy them separately

Do check out that AutoCraft or whatever website linked in one or both of those threads, there were lots of brackets to choose from. It's still not clear to me whether or not they have what you need. But yeah, stick around, ping N8, maybe he can give some feedback.

I had the same issue. So I removed them and brought em to a welder. Cost me about $500.20210821_070658.jpg20210813_192737.jpg
Air hammer with a chisel bit worked well on the rivets.

I like that idea. I thought it would cost a lot more. Did you go with a thicker steel? Hopefully I can find someone who can do it fast so I don’t have much down time

If I remember right, we did 3/16 flanges with 1/4 web. It's a tight squeeze to get everything back in and lined up.
Yeah, my pictures are out of order, but I removed the rusted section. Which is a frame stiffener. Brought it to the welder, they fabed the new piece shown. Then I bolted it back in.

In a pinch, an angle grinder to grind the head off one side, then a punch (or a punch bit on an air hammer) to knock it out using the side you ground also works well.

I've had to do similar on frames from a couple of diff't manufacturers to pull of LS swaps. Sometimes getting that chisel bit at the right angle can be a real bitch, grind and punch is the best alternative to it.

@typhoon it looks like that brace has the framerail sandwiched between it and the leaf perch with a rivet. Curious, did you just use standard grade 8 hardware and poly-locks to button it all back together?

Yeah all grade 8 hardware now, but with the steel top lock nuts.

Soon! I’m making templates today. I’m hoping I’ll be done in a few weeks. Hard finding time to rip a truck apart that you need everyday for work.

So I found some time to do the passenger side. I bought a plate of 3/8 steel and used 1/4” angle for the bottom. I also used 1/2” grade 8 bolts.
The hardest part was getting the rivets out. I tried just a air chisel but it would not budge them. It ended up being a combination of drilling them out and the air chisel.
It’s such a good feeling having the one side done. I know for sure it’s way stronger than stock. It is about 6” longer then the original. I’ll grab some pics later tonight when the driveway isn’t 400 degrees

You’re where I got the inspiration from lol. I’m not a welder so I just bolted mine together. I think it will be plenty strong though

A different approach, but it should work well.
