Got one on eBay from a part out for $170 shipped. Not horrible but certainly money I wasn't planning on spending.

Whatever this forum told me to do
    This right here....

he nails it. every second of that video had meat in it.

I wish a ring gap job would cost $1000.00

but I imagine it would cost north of $5k.

$15k if you did rod, pistons, bearings, etc.

I would venture there if I could get the piston job, keep the compression the same....put the motor back together and it run as good as mine does now.

    then, Diderot the 70mm pulley.

    it never ends......

    Went and spoke to these guys yesterday. Starting to sound like I'm going to need a donor motor;

Nothing broke.. Just wanted to get some ideas from them as to what the next steps for me would be and they confirmed what other people have said.. I'm at the brink of what I'm going to get out of this motor before hitting the danger zone. Next step is to build a beefy shortblock and then that opens up a world of more options starting with cams.

That guys blue truck is sweet. I know he has a Whipple and that’s what they sell so he’s always pushing them. You gonna go for their sleeved and stroked 6.8 liter 3UR upgrade? I saw he quoted a fully built one around 30k. Must have some crazy power potential though.

For the guys who want more than 600hp. What specifically are you chasing? Is there a benchmark your trying to reach?

    Just curious about the "why".

This is by far my favorite thread this site.

They actually sell all the brands but Whipple is definitely their favorite. He was showing me a 6.8 that he was working on while I was there. Looked sick.

I was hoping your shop provided more clarity as to when to make which upgrades for specific power outputs.

here's where my wee brain got stuck....(your last video has me ponderous)

how much power could a stock rotating assembly take if it just had the proper ring gap?

Most shops, ProSpeed included, don't really throw out numbers as every situation is different. Other than the larger throttle body I have just about everything that can done before you're in the danger zone though. XAT told me the same and that the next step should be a beefed up block before adding any more performance parts.

When you did the LTH and no cats did you feel much difference between the two?

I just got my truck back today from installing JBA LTH without cats. TBH I’m not sure if I like it. I do still need to make some adjustments to the tune. But the low end torque loss seems noticeable. Which may have been my favorite thing in regards to the overall drivability. I had already ordered the exhaust from Keith before I heard about the torque trade that comes with the LTH.

damn that’s a bummer on the low end torque loss. Which exhaust are you gonna run? I currently have the 8, hopefully thwy will work fine with the LTs. Any CEL? Are you running defoulers? Bypass maybe?

I’m not sure I just told Keith I didn’t want it crazy loud because I like listening to the SC. But he put mufflers in the midpipes also and it’s perfect sound wise. But ya I have defoulers in right now and so far so good driving around today.

I did so much in such a short period while also in the middle of tuning... It's really hard to say what each thing did. I can say that as soon as we did the headers I had a huge dead spot at the bottom that needed to be fixed via the tune right away.

It also depends what type of headers you get. 4 into 1, 4 into 2 into 1, etc. I went with the Try-Y Thorleys in an attempt to mitigate any losses in low end torque... And it's a torquey sonofabitch. If I tap the throttle a little too hard I'm bucking down the street.

This may or may not be true, but when I was running aftermarket cats with the LTH, it felt like I had to wind it up more to get moving, but after I put factory cats back with the mid pipes along with x-pipe, it feels back to stock.

Sorry if you mentioned it and I just forget, but did you install all 4 cats back on or just 2 of them? And if just 2 did you use the front or rears?

Someone mentioned to me that they thought the RCF throttle body bolts up up the Harrop without an adapter. Anyone know if this is true?

No, it needs an adapter, the holes are a different spacing
