Yikes need help

Is your truck one of those squatting dog kinds? All front lift, and none in the rear?

 

He’s the same guy?
He says he put on n3 struts which lift it 2.5 inches.

 

No pics in that thread either.

Who’s got a pic of what the setup is supposed to look like? Maybe that will clue the OP in on what he did wrong.

 

I’m confused to heck at this point.
OP made another thread last month saying he has n3 rough country coilovers. Now he says he doesn’t, but has 41/2 inches of lift from autozone zone oem equivalent struts and a 2.5 inch leveling pulk.

n3 struts + a 2.5 leveling pulk will get you at 5 inches more or less. Not healthy for your truck.

 

I believe that's exactly what has happened.

 

Yes previously I put on n3 struts and there was an issue with them so they got sent back and we bought the puck instead my old struts were completely shot so we bought the new one’s which should have been OEM replacements.

 

The following are pictures of my current situation and show the replacement OEM struts and the ball joint binding.

That is wild. Someone else mentioned those may not be the right coilovers for your truck and I wonder if they were right.

You are sitting at 4.5 in these pics because the spindle is stuck under the spring. What does the ride height look like when the spindle is not stuck under the spring? Have checked to see if those balljoints are good? What is the thickness of that spacer? It looks like there is some sort of down travel issue letting the spindle get under the spring like that. Maybe those struts extend farther than stock?

 

My guess is remove puck, problem solved.

 

Similar to what @KNABORES said, I would lift the truck up and see if the spindles can be pried out, then lower the truck and see what happens. From there at least you'll see whats what.

If your old struts were stock Toyota, hopefully you didn't throw them out. You'd be much better off keeping the springs from them and using 5100 shocks. For $300 you'd have level stance, no need for aftermarket UCA, and no binding. I wouldn't run an autozone even if they sponsored me.

 

OP, buying new upper control arms will only improve the angle of your ball joint going into the spindle. It won’t fix your problem. Your spindle is still going to be in the same spot if you continue this.

 

Also, looking at your coilovers, they look like they are a crap ton wider around the coils than normal ones. Look at the top where it mounts before the coil on the coilovers and you will see that the coils stick out further. Compare to mine.
Just an observation though, I don’t have measurements.

Yeah, I think so. He should be reusing the original coils anyways. Just change the strut.

 

OP, did you ever get an alignment? After altering suspension parts, you need to get an alignment afterwards. Especially adding 5 inches of lift.

Yes the alignment is fine and I see what you’re saying about the strut being wider than stock however the shop that did lift my threw my entire stock front strut assembly away So unfortunately I have no choice but to use the new struts.

 

When I get home I will lift the truck up with a jack and go from there

 

Almost wish I could take a sawzall to that one piece of the spring lol

 

So, is that just where the UCA sits, or is it just stuck?

 

It’s currently stuck but when you go down the road and hit bumps etc it frees up in other words when my strut compresses it frees up and when the strut relaxes again it get stuck but the constant pulling and stress has caused my boot to tear and my upper ball joint clanks.

 

Take the spacers off and rethink what you need before wasting money on junk.
