Denso is the OEM manufacturer for radiators. You can order one from Rock Auto or other vendors for a lot less than Toyota is going to charge you for the same thing.

Finally, got the cabin whisper quiet, I can't believe how well these first gens drive, so smooth, coming from a POS '05 ranger I guess anything makes a difference. If you have a wind rushing noise coming from behind you in an Access cab, use a piece of garage door opening seal ( 6 bucks @ Lowes) against the cab frame to butt up against the door seal around the rear hinge, perfect!

 

Oh shit, I thought it was the other way. Like, 80 was closer to 70. Oops.

I replaced my radiator in my Tacoma with a Denso from rock auto. No issues. Definitely the way to go to save some money

 

The radiator for dads q45 was a tyc from rock auto. No problems, and the box showed up pristine. Not even a scuff.

the pool noodle seal came from walmart and has lasted all winter. I wonder if it’ll last all summer?

 

Suddenly diff breather relocate to gas cap or tail light doesn't seem high enough.

 

I've seen this on a 08 GM vehicle. Was the purge canister flow valve if I remember right. It was stuck open so it would allow fuel vapors to enter the engine while you were filling up causing it to be too rich. Would crank for a really long time then would run fine once it started. No idea if there's anything like that on these trucks.

 

My only failed start was in mammoth at least 17 years ago. Drove up, tank was closer to empty than I should have left it, from sea level and warm to cold and snowy. The next morning, truck would not start. Turned over but didn't start. So we took the skis down the road and found our way to the slopes, had a good day, I forget how we got back. Truck started fine in the afternoon, filled it up with gas, worked perfectly since then. I assume some condensation in the fuel from going hot to cold? Dunno though, it was unusual/unexpected.

 

I would crank down on that top nut a bit. Looks like the washers are barely contacting the rubber bushings. Don't crank down so much as to crush the bushings but make them nice and toight.

I was thinking the same thing the more I look at it.

 

Generally crank down on until the rubber bushing begins to compress a tiny bit. Keeps the bar in constant contact and not loosey goosey. Some folks crank down too much and deform the hell out of the bushings and they get destroyed quickly that way. Nice n toight.

found out my rear speakers are inop. I’ll pull the door panels when i get home, see if they’re unplugged, but thinking i might get some good 6x9’s and boxes, and run em off a 2 channel amp through 20ft of wire so i can set em on the tailgate if i need to.

i put sony xplodes in my comanche back in highschool, but im not really fluent in audiophile lingo. What say ye, all knowing board?

bandaid the system ive got, or get a decent HU and start from scratch?


Ive got the 6-disc, and it doesnt say jbl anywhere, and the cd and casette player work. Im not a fan of touchscreens, i like knobs and buttons. But if its going to be an uphill battle, im not opposed to changing it.

 

I think @robabeatle has a pretty sweet setup.

 

6x9’s in boxes on a 2 channel amp, your dating us, er I mean yourself now @Sirfive . I say update the head unit as it will make adding an amp easier. As far as the 6x9 boxes being used, and being mobile to put in the bed, they make really nice Bluetooth speakers for that now.

 

I can barely keep my phone charged. But you’re right. Those tallboy sized jl audio miniture boom tubes are pretty decent.

 

Sir please don't post anymore pics of a 1st gen that clean. My wife will divorce me if I go buy fender flares and repaint my whole truck and that's exactly what that pic makes me want to do. Seriously though that is beautiful!

Any tips? its kind of awkward and having a difficult time getting it tighter. I Can install UCA and Coilovers but can't get this link tightened enough lol

 

If I recall, getting on the bolt from the bottom with a wrench is a tough fit. I feel like a used a big flathead screwdriver down there and jammed it between the LCA and the bolt head.

 

ya that is where im having trouble as well, i will give the screwdrive method a try. thanks!

 

I used the recommendation from someone on here and had a "thin" wrench that fit in that small space to get it tight. But I agree that something like a screwdriver jammed in there should work.

 

Have a pair of alligator(long nose) vice grips for the bottom bolt?

 

unfortunately i do not have those, just the beefy vice grips but maybe i can the the tip of them locked on to the bottom bolt
