1794 Wood Trim Wrap

I've decided that I can't stand the fact that the steering wheel wood grain is darker than the door and dash trim wood grain. I'm looking into seeing if I can wrap all these pieces with a brushed metal looking vinyl, similar to the texture/color on the trim around the radio. Does anyone have experience doing this? Can you pop the wood grain pieces on the doors off or do you have to remove the whole door panel?

I'm planning to wrap the fake wood pieces too but I'll probably just leave the pieces in place even if it is easier to wrap them removed.

The dash panels will come off but it looks like there is a bottom to top order to how the panels come off. As far as the doors go those look like they are not removable but I haven't found a definitive answer yet.

Thanks for all the posts very helpful. Don't think I want to remove the door panels and drill out the clips though. Anyone ever wrap these pieces in place? Do you use a blow dryer or just stick it on and cut the excess?

 

A few ways to do it.

You can cut them slightly larger than the piece being wrapped where you would tuck the excess under the edges of the piece with a soft tool. Heat gun is usually necessary for pieces with a lot of features and contours where stretching the wrap is necessary; squeegee will be the main goto for the featureless parts.
