2nd gen cluster

Hmmm I have no idea then since your setup is a little different from mine.

 

I'm wondering if removing the chip is the way to go. It seems to read it as a 93 chip just fine, but the values fluctuate each time I read...which makes me think maybe the connections from the cable aren't the greatest. I can also get it to read as a 24 series chip as well. Of course, it can't just be simple!

 

Which parts did you actually need from this programmer? They have units without the cable on Amazon for $6-7 right now. I figure I can re-use the cable if I need to try a different programmer.

Okay...I'll keep trying to figure this out. Which program did you end up using? I'd like to think I can figure out how to make the programmer I have work with some of the other software...but maybe the drivers/EZP software is the only way to get this to work out. I can get any other program so far to recognize the USB programmer. I think that would make it super simple.

 

I could only get it to read and program with Neo Programmer. AS Programmer was not working properly for some reason. I pulled the chip off the cluster too, it wouldn’t read properly with it on the board.

 

Did you use the 93C6616 or 93C668? I'm thinking I need to use the 8-bit chip...not sure why but I thought it was the 16...

 

I used the M93S66 settings and it read and programmed it. Neoprogrammer has a function that will detect your chip and reader too.

 

Does anyone know for sure if any white colored one will work from eday?

Mine came in today. I plugged it in but not noticing any dimming. Doesn’t make much sense!

part I ordered should be interchangeable with the tundra part. Not sure why it’s not working for me

 

Pics of the part you got? You're saying when you switch your headlights on the cluster doesn't dim? Does it maybe need to be turned up all the way or something?

 

I turned it up all the way til it clicked. Then tried turning it down even. It’ll dim when I turn it down but not when headlights come on

 

Got mine today and it works like a charm! Mine came from a Tundra Limited.

 

Looks like you’ll have to get one from a vehicle with auto headlights, usually the limited models. I tested it with a RAV4 limited dimmer before finding one on eBay.

 

Odd bc this part is interchangeable with the part number for tundra that should work and has the function to click it upwards (which is what I thought was needed)

will order one from a limited and see if it works fine for me. Everything else I’ve wired up has worked (optitron gauges, steering wheel controls, auto headlights). So This should too

Hmmm...the only difference I can see on mine is that the inner and outer pieces are stamped with the same number: 453840

Yours has 453634 on the white part, which would lead me to believe there's something different inside.

Well, don't feel bad... Mine doesn't work either (for dimming, anyway), despite having four wires!

Hmmm...so maybe I needed the part numbers from the pics moreso than the listing description. I just re-read the posting and this is what it said:

I'll add - I'd be hesitant to buy one off eBay without them listing the VIN of the vehicle it came from and checking that vs. toyodiy.com The 0030 and 0040 are listed everywhere as "interchangeable", and they are, but not for full functionality, it would appear.

 

I have no idea, I slapped it in and made sure it works. I checked the vin before buying and made sure it was from a tundra limited.

 

I'm gonna say based on the chart I just posted...pretty much about any Corolla dimmer from 2013-19 should likely work. Apparently they had dimming interior lights standard on just about every model...

 

The 0030 is different than the 0040. The 30 appear to be the black ones and 40s are the white ones, which seemed to have been the ones needed/working
