Canadian Prices 2022 Tundra

Don't think of it as a hybrid, think of it as the bigger engine option. That's how Toyota introduced it and has marketed it for the most part.

you are losing payload.
and the tow factor is about the same (20lbs)

What I'm saying is that Hybrids are less likely to need to be in boost for commuting, since the torque that would be provided by the turbochargers when they're spooled up is substituted for by the electric motors. Obviously, the engine will be producing boost at cruising RPMs, just not the full 20 PSI of it. For now, everything is speculation and reasoning. I will follow up with the fuel economy I am getting during and after the break-in period.

 

Go take a peak at the 5.3L vs 6.2L GM/Chevy engine options and their towing/payload capabilities, this isn't unique to Toyota.

For me personally, maximizing payload numbers isn't the reason I'm buying a Tundra. For payload and hauling duties, a Tacoma would do me fine, but I have a wife and 3 kids. Have you every tried putting three car seats in a Tacoma and hitting the road for an 11 hr drive?

In addition, the TRD Pro is only available with the iForce Max so if one wants that model they don't have a choice, do they?

So the Cdn Fed govt giving GM Canada $259 million taxpayer dollars - announced today for electric vehicle plans in Oshawa and Ingersoll plants.
Hopefully those jobs remain in Canada.
Honestly with all the push to electrification, I assume all hybrid buyers are doing leases or something they can get out of quickly in a few years and not take a big $ hit? I think the tech in vehicles will be much different in a few years time.

 

super sadge that you can't get the Platinum hybrid with 6.5ft box in Canada, waited so long to pre-order a hybrid to be told no cause reasons

 

A platinum long bed hybrid would be heavy enough to need a tag axle!

 

It's available in the states thou and the only diff is about 400 lbs gross weight between them. you can get a Limited long box hybrid as well its just the Canadian Platinum L that you can't for some assinine reasoning

 

Just put a deposit down for the Platinum Hybrid, and was told I'm on a waiting list, 14th to be exact which will put me into a '23 MY Tundra. Was told that the dealer allocation is 12 Hybrids for this year, and that's exactly what I wanted, a '23 MY.

I know I had posted some questions about ordering the '22/'23 Tundra over in this post, but has anyone had any luck financing their truck elsewhere than Toyota? The 4.99% Toyota interest rate is just absurd, and wonder if anyone had any luck with seperate banks? I see Ford, Chevy/GM offer interest rate between 1.99 and 2.99 which is much better than the 4.99 Toyota offer...

I have checked HELOC, but not sure if it's something I'm wanting at this moment.

 

The only reason not going HELOC route at this time is that we wanted to also use that to do some house renovations in the next year or 2. But I guess it doesn't hurt to check!

 

All the banks I've talked to have said they cant beat the dealer rate. I'm going to look into the HELOC but i'm more likely going to just take out the longest finance term possible then pay it off as fast aa poasible. Take the 96 month term, pay it off in 36 months kinda thing.

Oh really, that's surprising that no banks cant beat the Toyota rate, which I find it very high at 5-6%.

The banks do a prime + rate when it comes to loans. Prime is 2.70% right now if I remember. From what I've been told, prime + 3 or 4% is normal which puts you 5.7% - 6.7%, higher than Toyotas 4.99%. My unsecured line of credit is prime + 5% iirc.

Toyota does offer 96 months, at least they did when I put the deposit down on my '22 in Feb. When you really run the numbers, if you can pay off the loan early you can minimize the interest paid because your extra payments go directly against the principle of the loan. Same concept as paying off a mortgage by doubling up payments, you'll pay less interest overall. Without figuring out the exact math, if I take a 96mo loan at 4.99% but pay it off in 36mo, the actual interest I pay may work out to more like 2.99 or 3.5%. Somebody better at math would have to confirm that though. All I know is pay it off sooner, less interest paid overall.

 

Oh, makes complete sence, and that's what I've also been doing for my house mortgage! Didn't think it was an option with Toyota, but I guess I may be wrong!

its ok to hedge on an investment with a HELOC that will appreciate and pay only the interest, but on a depreciating asset like a vehicle?
The Bank Of Canada is raising rates again at the next mtg. Most industry folks feel it will be a 1/2 per cent increase, doubling the current rate.
Make a note of that if you are taking a fixed loan rate. Otherwise the Heloc secured or not, interest rate goes up or down with the bank rate as its a variable rate, unless you convert it, or a portion into a fixed mortgage. I am not a financial advisor but I have lived this personally.

also as a note.
the government finally realized that people were using HELOC's to help buy homes and pay only the interest every month. This contributed to the increasing house prices. Maybe there will be something in the budget Thursday to curtail this. we will find out soon !

But are they really? I was told that dealers in Canada can't add the said "market adjustment", but again, anything is possible.

Unfortunately, it'll come bite them in the long run, people will remember which dealer charged over MSRP to take advantage of the situation

 

I interpret this as something different than selling above MSRP. It's to deal with the extraordinary expenses and costs from supply chain issues - shortage of chips, etc..
Dont have a sales agreement handy to see the language that is used, maybe see where a loop hole exists.
