Those are equal to 22s so at least it’s what a lot of people are running once supercharged. I could see it not being an issue under normal driving and short pulls, but if you’re having issues at WOT up above 100mph then it stands to reason in my simple mind that there could be pre-detonation.

I was just trying to figure out which they were equal to. How do you figure that out? Is there an NGK model that is equal to the 24? I'm having better luck finding NGK locally.

I’m using this website. There are several NGK options listed so I cant say what the most direct equivalent is. See if you can find the ones that @nobodyintexas is using with the part number. Either way, I would not deviate from NGK or Denso brands. https://www.sparkplug-crossreference.com/convert/DENSO_PN/IKH24

Got it. Going to pick those up right now and bring them to the shop.

Thanks to all for the help with this. I'll keep you updated.

Here’s to hoping it’s actually helping you and not sending you on a goose chase. You should check with Matt Smith since you’ve been in contact with him. Tell him you have IKH20s in there now and ask if that could be the issue. Like you said, he’s a smart guy when it comes to these trucks.

Ya know, we've talked about everything over the last week but never spark plugs. He's the reason I've got headers on the way as well. Going to message him right now.

Oh, and the shop is swapping injectors first thing this morning.

Just talked to Matt and he agrees with you about the plugs and had me order a different model of Denso. Headed to get them in a minute.

On the way to pick up the plugs right now. And as I'm driving I just got this from PS regarding the plugs I'm currently running.

"We’ve tested the various plug heat ranges in multiple trucks. Because we run the mixtures much richer we found the stock heat range plug to be the best option in most cases. The colder plugs have more tendency to foul, and we found no real benefit to running the colder plug. Some people run the colder plug to mitigate knock, but typically their knock issue is fuel system and or tuning related and the colder plug is just a bandaide. Your truck is picking up ZERO knock, so you are good there. Predetonation is not even a thing.
There is “Pre Ignition”, “Detonation”, and “Knock”, those are 3 things that are often lumped together and can all kill a motor, but they each happen at different times in the cycle and have different failure modes. The most common is knock, and is the least dangerous. Pre ignition or detonation would kill a stock 5.7 instantly as the pistons are not very strong form the factory

I’d be willing to bet there is a leak around one of the injectors. I have seen this happen a few times and it can cause missfire issues under boost. The best thing would be to cap the throttle body and pressure/boost test the blower/manifold and see if there are any leaks around the injectors when under pressure".ure

Well, I guess they know best! Hopefully your shop can find something. If they swap the cylinder 1 injector I wonder if it will follow it.

Just got back from the shop. Plugs made no difference. Swapped the injectors around. Misfire did not follow. Ran the pressure test that ProSpeed recommended and passed with flying colors.

Oh, and my headers, that said they were in stock, are now 6-8 weeks out. So, that's awesome.

On Monday the shop is going to pull the cats and look for issues (per Matt Smith) and potentially pull the cat and do a quick run to see if the misfire goes away. If it does... Bye bye cat until the headers get here and I can get to the exhaust shop.

Possible broken valve spring? I read breaking them was more common on the earlier 5.7s.

I guess at this point, anything is possible. No one has mentioned that as of this point until you. I'll bring it up.

Strange thing is that the truck runs like a beast at all times... Until it hits around top of 4th. And at that point you can pop the Cylinder 1 coil off and right back on and you're back in action without even restarting the truck.

I got the thought from searching for the issue. Go on boosted tundras page and search “misfire” and you’ll get some reading material from over the years.

It’s a page on Facebook. Lots of good tundra pages on there, but the supercharged tundra knowledge is the most plentiful on that page of anywhere I’ve seen.

I know it’s been said before, but towing power with the supercharger is truly immense for a gas truck. Was pulling my 32’ 6500 lb. dry travel trailer on Friday. I’ve never burned out with a heavy trailer in tow on dry pavement with minimal throttle input before. The torque throughout the rev range is wild. Can’t imagine with 5.29s on top of it. I found myself passing slow traffic on hills without breaking a sweat. I think it’s going to be a fun camping season with relatively stress free towing.

If your truck starts running bad and idling at 9:1 AFR and can't maintain an rpm, check your intake since your friend may of installed an onion and part of it may have gotten sucked through your supercharger and fouled the MAF

To be honest, I may have installed a burrito through the HVAC vent on his 3rd gen 4runner at KOH and it slid down far enough you can't see it anymore  so I had it coming, I'm just glad this was a simple fix since that burrito has been in his heater core for 2 months now :p

I'm assuming they're original. If so, about 100k.
