anyone have photos of the center console vents in a access cab? im curious how the right side is attached. (yes my center console will have rear heat for the non existent back seat area)

yea. ive got the driver side piece that allows it to attach. cant tell how the passenger side attached unless it goes where my vent just dumps.

 

Are you going to tell us why? Why heat the rear cab?

 

Scrolled through my tundra pics but I never grabbed any when I was routing wiring to bypass the amp.

If no one beats me to it, I'll try and grab some tomorrow or Monday.

Perforated seats would be neat. Turn them into warmers/coolers.


I tend to leave my vents settings at defrost & foot during cooler months. It'd probably help with keeping the seat/rear of the cab comfortable in colder weather, without blasting you directly with hit air.

 

only because it keeps my floor vents functional properly with the vents. otherwise the heat all will go under the console. the stock setup is blocked by the console now.

 

it likely will help spread heat out better in the winter is my hope. but its really just so i can keep the floor vents working right

 

I like the idea of a vent extension (noogle?) for heated / cooled seats.

 

it could be done.. i wouldnt do heat.. but cooled is doable if you get creative

 

Anyone contemplate yanking both airbags for good? I assume there is some way to neuter the entire airbag system? Pull a fuse perhaps?

Then no concerns about accidental discharge while wheeling? But greater risk of injury or death? And wouldn’t be legal to sell?

 

our trucks dont have the same sensors as newer trucks.. you dont need to worry as much about them going off.

 

Is there an age at which time it’s important to get it repacked or something? Like a parachute?

 

Technically airbags are suppose to be replaced every 10 years.... but meh

@daveeasa There's the RSCA off button to turn off the side curtain bags. So when you wheel at extreme angles if the truck thinks it's rolling over it doesn't deploy the side curtains. I'm not sure if that also turns off the front bags. Don't know what year the side curtains/RSCA system started.
But there is a system in the trucks, so you should be able to create an on/off switch.

I'm happy to see you made it into your 20s before you had a shit b-day. My first was at age 11. And I've pretty much hated/avoided birthdays ever since. The one time I thought, "Ah, I'm being stupid" I opened the door to another the year following. Birthdays are shit.

 

Yeah I bought a used switch panel with the RSCA button but it doesn’t fit mine, nor is there any harness to connect to. Pretty sure my 2002 doesn’t have side curtain airbags but Dan might correct me on that. I’ve had the A pillar off recently for the scangauge and I don’t remember seeing them.

 

I had a Great Uncle (long passed) used to change the filter on a regular basis, but only changed the oil once every couple of years. He'd just change the filter and top up the oil. He was a farmer and rancher and actually wore out pickups, but I never heard of him having engine problems.

 

Interesting. Gotta be a quick and messy change though

 

Probably not much worse than a normal change. Most of the oil ends up back in the pan after shutdown.

I was yoga fingering all night. I'm ready, or not.

 

Tried to drive the 2000 Tundra to the airport this morning for a work trip. Just got it back from my son who used it for 4x4 winter duty. Made it 1/2 a block before the incredibly loud Wawa sounds from the front end overpowered my senses. The front bearing(s) are definitely shot now. Turned around and parked it. Took the 19 instead. Looks like I’ve got a more immediate project to add onto the front bumper replacement. Hopefully I can find a local shop to do the press work. I’ll pull the spindles and take them in. Might as well replace the ball joints while I’m in there. My not Toyota ball joints don’t give me the good feels.

 

These are smaller in person than specs look like. Still, may be awesome.

 

Oh - wait, don't you have the key off passenger airbag switch? I think all the airbag vehicles with no back seat have them & most all pickup trucks.
Surely that can be replicated on the driver side.
