I have an Iphone and yes, at the dealer of course they were also able to connect to my truck with no issues. The technicians must have andriod as well. I also get the issues with fault codes when I reset the radio to fix the "no audio out" issue.

Another Droid user here and having connection issues. Gave up on the Android auto glitchiness including volume adjustments and bt discnnections. I'm only bluetoothing my phone (audio/call only) and stream my content using my device vs using my beautiful 14"....

I reset mine (sometimes more than once) when Apple CarPlay won’t connect. Other times when Waze is being stupid.

They claimed the faults (safety system) we’re having and radio are connected even they operate on separate systems. So I don’t know, maybe an update/firmware will do it. The only thing I was appreciative of was the dealer and Toyota not knowing what was going on, but trying to get it fixed.

I have a 2022 SR5 with premium 14" screen. When I hold down the volume(power?) knob I get the parking brake malfunction, every time. It always goes away with a truck restart. I was trying to figure out how to power off the radio(screen), it always comes back on, only way I can figure out to turn off is to dive into the settings..

September 2022 bought 22Tundra, had a loose steering column that made noise, had to get it replaced. Got truck back a week ago and now I'm having the connectivity issues with android auto, keeps losing signal. Today, LTA Malfunction See Dealer error.

Worst part is I called dealer and they "had to google the error" before they could say it was covered under warranty and I could have a loaner.

This is why you don't buy first Gen models...

Same issues as OP. LTA malfunction, no wireless CarPlay or Wi-Fi. Radio keeps resetting.

when connected to usb CarPlay works fine and radio does not reset.

dealer ordered a new head unit per Toyota. Scheduled for replacement on the 18th, so we will see if this fixes the issue.

SR5 premium package, 14 inch screen.

Mine behaves very similarly to the 10 steps posted by RWaters. It happens a couple times each month. It's like it runs until it gets in a bad state and needs a good reset. Kind of like Windows!

I've gotten this message about break support system malfunction since I've had it toyota couldn't replicate it so they just did diagnostic and clear coeds and gave it back to me. Happen 4 or 5 more time took it in each time could not repeat it charged me one more time out of the 4. Finally I got it replicated in front of Shop Forman. It happens when I hold the radio to reset just like it reset on us while driving. I held it down to reate and ever few time I reset it it will reset engine light will come one and break support malfunction error will poop up shop Forman saw it twice while doing manual reset of radio but I told him it's happen the other time we brought in in. They have had may truck since Friday and no through out weekend there going to do communication codes and other diagnostic.

I captured a video of mine failing from start to finish on 8/4/23. I was actually on my way to the dealership for the 10K service when this happened. I'm glad it did, because I gave the video to the dealership and uploaded it to YouTube. Toyota's response was that there is a known issue with the infotainment system and the IOS. I explained that this happens every 3-4 weeks and has since I got my truck a year ago. Given my iPhone auto-updates, this has happened across multiple IOS updates and updates of the Toyota application (for what that's worth). Once CarPlay becomes unresponsive and you reset the radio, driver system errors (cruise control and LTA) start getting thrown. You can reset the LTA, but you have to shut the truck off to reset the cruise control. I'm curious how many others see the same thing? Here's the link to my YouTube video: https://youtu.be/ZKsVRmW8q_4

Just happened on my brand spanking new 2024 4x4 Crewmax Sport. CarPlay wouldn’t connect, as other indicated. I reset the radio by holding the power button down, then got the below message. Contacting the dealer tomorrow. I’ve had it for less than a month at this point and it’s already more buggy than my 2021 RAV4 that I traded in for it.

Has anyone gotten a solid answer on what the issue is? I have a 23’ SR5 with the 8” screen and within the last month I started getting the LTA, RSA, Pre-Collision, and airbag warning lights. Oh, and my backup camera stopped working. Strangely though, I’ve had no issues with Apple CarPlay or my radio resetting.

I have an appointment with a dealer next month but… I’m in Germany and not sure if they will be familiar with these trucks. I’m pretty sure there’s only two third gen’s in the country. As far as warranty is concerned, I reached out to Toyota and they don’t cover outside of the US but will reimburse expenses for active duty service members (we’ll see how that goes).

Any help to point them in the right direction will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I had many of the issues discussed here until eventually the head unit failed and was replaced under warranty. None of the issue have resurfaced since the new head unit was installed. The dealer didn’t think the two were related but they most definitely were in my case.

Thanks! I’ll let them know that seems to be a remedy.

As of December 3, 2024, I have been experiencing ongoing issues with the LTA Malfunction and AWD System Alert on my 2024 Tundra. Despite scheduling multiple appointments with Toyota dealership technicians, they have been unable to identify the cause of the problem. I have already opened a case with Toyota regarding this issue and am currently waiting to hear back on their plan for resolving it.

One thing I’ve noticed is that these errors seem to occur when my Apple CarPlay freezes on the radio. If I press and hold the power button on the radio to reset it, the LTA Malfunction warning light or AWD System error message appears immediately afterward.

Craziest thing… I replaced the stereo and most of the issues seemed to go away but the backup camera still wouldn’t work. I unplugged all of the connections and checked everything with a multimeter to look for breaks, no issues. When I reconnected everything… BAM all of the warning lights came back on. I decided to unplug the camera, just to see what would happen, and they all went off again. So I was able to isolate the issue to the camera itself. I ordered a new camera from Sparks and it worked flawlessly, just need to get it calibrated to get the guide lines back. I put the old stereo back in and it’s working with no issues as well. Crazy that a camera caused all this trouble.
